I’m not asking him to understand the difference between xG and xGa or to be able to use Python Grumps. Just admitting that he didn’t have a clue but recognised it’s value in helping us make smarter decisions and was sufficiently well versed in how the best clubs were being run to know that it’s the right thing to do would have sufficed. Instead he waffled on for a bit being somewhat dismissive before pivoting to a gripe about something Gordon Armstrong said about the number of scouts we employ. As I say, he should be able to do better than that. He may like to take the ‘I’m just a fan’ position but he’s the top of the tree when it comes to Safc. We have to rely on him properly holding people to account.
he doesnt hold the abanklsyts to account-he isnt their line manager-thats my point..their line manager holds rhem to account...and stewrat holds that person to account..

Something is certainly up with the lyle Taylor thing. Donald stuttering his way through it and repeating himself without answering.
he did answer to the extent he could..

The latter, he comes across as prickly because of that.

same, I think Charlie cares, his motivation for that is whatever, he isn't as emotionally invested as us fans and can afford to be a lot more dispassionate and direct and take in the bigger picture view. Good to have that within the club. wouldn't like to work for him though I reckon!

It's reassuring that Methven clearly thinks Ross has failed and hasn't done a great job. Feel like Donald is far too happy to defend him at all costs because it was his pick.

Linkedin ratings from Dragon ex-employees are apparently completely polarised. People either love him or loathe him.

donald is his line manager-so has to be diploamtic..you cant be critical of an employee in public befoire they have had their annual review..

I thought the podcast was excellent, good questioning (although the Will Grigg & player performance stuff needs to be aimed at JR) an acknowledgement of a need to change & that auto promotion is the only option next season. An explanation albeit long winded on the finances & current thinking - I know it won’t be good to everyone & doesn’t hide from the fact we’ve failed on the pitch this season but it shows that Short sold to people wanting to make both solvent & competitive again

I agree re the Lyle Taylor assessment, definitely something in that

I thought the interviewers pushed a little more this time but several of our questions were ignored and the same topics kept getting repeated.
Love hearing Stew and Donald speak though.

Really wanted to hear about Sartori and what his role / contribution / interest is likely to be going forward.

I think Donald let on what was actually one of the scenarios when he mentioned about only offering to pay for 6 weeks in a hotel instead of 8 weeks.

Before he said that sentence the idea had been on skimping for 200 quid, where as the hotel line sort of matches up more to what Taylor was suggesting that he didn't like the club were skimping on things.

There does also sound like there may have been some disagreements with character/wanting to be here but I wouldn't be surprised if the idea the club wouldn't pay for little things yet were offering a better deal over the long term is true and it is one of the reasons the player used to decide that he'd also prefer to be closer to his family

Any plans to get Ross on a pod @Cack Stottie ? Would be interesting to hear his point of view and what he's thinking tactically.

Now is the time to give JR and the rest of the club a break to let them reflect on the season and perhaps get them on at some point during pre season when everything will have settled down, the disappointment will have been put aside and excitement for the new season will slowly start to creep in.

There's no use pointing fingers.

Aye maybe, but I didn't mean as a kangaroo court. Just thought it would be interesting for him to explain his tactics, why he does certain things, future plans etc. Explaining things might help people understand tactics, in particular his tactics.

Do you really want the manager to go into all the details about formations and tactics on a fan podcast which is available for everyone to hear?

It's not going to happen. As SD said in the podcast, he doesn't believe it was JR's intention to be defensive and sit back but instead perhaps be related to a mentality problem of the players.
