Camp sites not too far away

Can anyone recommend a campsite not too far from Durham?

My twins (four on Thursday) have got it in to their heads that they would like to go camping with Daddy (I blame Peppa Pig). I just want to go for one night (initially), as I think they will probably freak out and I'll have to return before any sleeping has commenced.

There's one just off the A1M/A690 roundabout. Ex-inlaws used to stay there and liked it.

Bobby Shaftoes at Beamish. Not stopped but have walked around nearby loads. It's a beautiful area - really tranquil.

Not the closest but warren Mill near bamburgh is good - pool, bar and games room for the kids on site..

A lot of places generally won't let you pitch until well after midday and then want you out by 11 the next day.

There’s been someone camping under one of the bridges next to the railway lines near the metro centre for the last few weeks. Could pitch up next to them.
