Eng v Pakistan ODI Series

Yeah I didn't really mean it like that mate

He will play test cricket and I have no doubt will do it well

Just meant going from 18 months non stop of ODI and T20 cricket, maybe let him have a few games first before a call up

Who is everyone leaving out for the final 15 for Archer then

Its between Denly, Curran and Willey for me. Denly gets in as covers 3 positions

Probably leave Curran out as just can't see where he plays, behind Wood, Archer and Woakes.

Willey is just a completely different option who can swing the new ball.
At the moment Wood will be left out as he hasn't played a game to prove he's fit or in any kind of form

I hope for his sake that's the approach they are taking.

I agree with @The Breen Machine I'd leave out Denly, I don't see that his bowling is any better than Root's so if we really need 3 spinners we'll be covered. And he doesn't get in as a batsman.

We don’t need that many fast bowlers surely?

Archer
Wood
Stokes
Woakes
Curran
Plunkett
Willey

That’s too many like

Stokes' bowling got to the point that his IPL captain wouldn't bowl him, would you expect Wood to play every game, Willey and Woakes give you options if you think it will swing v requiring out and out pace. Plus Stokes is in as a batsman, if he bowls it's a bonus option.

Not true at all that mate he wasn't fit to bowl and was ordered not to by the ECB

Stokes will be bowling every game in the world cup, he is the vital balance to the side. Sorry like but we have been pretty consistent for 4 years and Stokes bowling has been massive part of that, not gonna suddenly stop him bowling like.

Don't need 7 options out of 15, even 6 is too many like.

If someone gets a serious injury you can call a replacement

they will only pick that many as a cop out not to upset anyone, I suspect Denly has been a patsy to be dropped for Archer anyway.

Fair enough, I didn't know that, just saw him going around the park then bowling less and less.

6 quicks plus Stokes plus Rashid and Ali gives you space for 6 batsmen so would you pick 5 quicks and 7 specialist batsmen? Or Denly or Dawson? Either way I think that 6th quick would be more likely to play than the 7th batsman or 3rd spinner. Probably a moot point as the 15th player won't play unless we have a dead rubber and it will be down to "who will the squad be least pissed off about being dropped for Archer?"

Possibly

I just think we need a reserve spinner, it wouldn't be Denly myself it would be Dawson but Denly is the man they have picked for that position so he should be in.

If Wood is fit I can't see Curran playing like, he has last choice out of the right armers, Willey is unlikely to play but he is a good option, especially if there is cover.

fuck sake no Archer today, wanted to see him bowl!

Surely he has to play, he has never bowled more than 4 overs in a game for about a year, strange management unless injured

I think Archer is already in the WC squad tbh.

He’s been playing pretty much none stop since the Big Bash I think earlier this year so won’t hurt to miss a game.

He is but they need to see him bowl 10 overs in a game I'd say, can't hurt
Yeah, need to make sure he can come back for a third spell 2 hours after the first. Saw him in shorts at Malahide and there is nothing to him, possibly the skinniest legs I've seen on a professional athlete. He must have the most efficient style ever.

Going around the park could be part and parcel of only being 90%(say) fit.
