In exactly the same situation? Ashley gone and a new owner in with the fans interests at heart with a feelgood atmosphere around the club?

We'd average over 40K i reckon and we'd definitely sell out a play-off semi.

You play off to get promoted via the league system. It's a league game, stop twisting to justify why people aren't turning up.

Struggling to fill half your ground for the most important game of the season is laughable tbf. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for this place repeatedly touting yourself as the best about.

Fair play to the mags on here so far as very little piss taking despite the fact we royally deserve to have the piss taken in this instance.

I am going man, the point is that a league game isn't a play off game, which bit can you not comprehend.

Didn't say you weren't going?

It's part of the league season, the prize at the end is promotion into the higher level of the league system via the league itself. Seems you're the one struggling to understand tbh.

t.

i'm not sure if thats strictly true, if you had had to watch the football we have offered up not only this season, but for the last 5 seasons. people were actually expecting to win the championship last season. imagine our disappointment. people certainly expected us to be going up automatically this season, we have finished 5th, winning one of the last 7, and playing relatively poor football for most the season. i really don't think newcastle fans, other than those few hundred that attend our games, can properly appreciate how utterly shit it has been.

and don't get me started on your catchment area. yes you have more fans that us. yes you get bigger attendances. get in! wow! your catchment area is 10 times the size of ours. 80% of the lads at work, on sites all over the north east, are 'mags' - always sniping at me, yet not one of them goes to games. you lot must have the biggest unrestricted catchment area of any professional football club in the country. i'm buzzing for yous

I've seen nowt from Pompey to suggest we won't be in the tie going into the 2nd leg.
Hope so. Well, I predict 1 1 at home. I just can't see enough in us to do any better at home, but at least as ypu say we will be in the tie. Head says lose over 2 legs. Heart says we might nick it. Football will still be awful mind. And I quite fancy a trip to Wembley again. It will only be the third time I have seen us play in a couple of seasons.

So after 11 relegations in 60 years including 2 down to the 3rd tier and at the end of it finishing 5th in the 3rd tier taking only 6 points out of the last 21 you reckon you would?

Constantly told on here the standard of football under Rafa is absolutely lifting.

Didn't read the rest as it will probably be more cognitive dissonance. Nee need to derail the thread, he asked a question I answered it.

Even Luton and Barnsley don't play good football. It's OK but hardly quality football. The standard is awful and what I expected from league 1

I think they would, when do they ever not turn up in big numbers even when they are shite?

This, we are a league 1 side with largely league 1 players.....I suspect the fact some have enjoyed it more than others is some knew what league 1 was like and others thought they would be watching something a bit like the Prem and Championship.

It isn't a normal league game. Whether it is part of the league season or not. It isn't included in the season ticket so it isn't a "normal" league game which is you play every team one at home and once away, with the league being 46 games.

That is the point being made by everything disagreeing with you.

I can't really comment on performances of other teams as I have only seen us play regularly. But I have seen us play Portsmouth 3 times this season and their football isn't that great. But small margins and all that..their team is more settled and Jacket seems to know his best 13/14 whereas Ross doesn't even know his best partnerships.
