If people only turned up when we weren’t playing shite there’d have been nobody turning up most of the time for years. The players and managers undoubtedly owe us for the support they’ve got this season rather than the other way round, but still support is unconditional and people should want to be there to support their club if not Ross or whoever else to try and drag them over the line. And so what if it’s Pompey? We have just as good a chance of winning the match and playoffs as they do.

Said it on another thread but our hardcore now is 23-24k and it will take a lot to get that back up to where it used to be. A lot of our "fans" are day trippers now and this semi will be a prime example of it. No doubt there will be 40k at Wembley if we get past Pompey.

Never understand the "we've been shite" argument. You either want to go to the match or you dont. If we all just didnt bother when we were shite the club would have folded 10 times over for lack of interest.

I’m going after no end of bother getting a ticket.

Thought it might have been a nice touch to give ST holders a discount after the loyalty we have shown this season

Many supporters, without SC's, are just as loyal and pay more to go ;)

Expect it and embrace it mate, the truth is gonna hurt some of the precious little fuckers......

"Sunderland till I die" or until the biggest game of the season costs £20 and its on Sky.........Got slaughtered for calling out the fans for being fannies the other week but if fans abandon the team at this stage then fuck em, they deserve all they get, 3rd rate and little doubt they will need to concede that the Mags are indeed the biggest club with the best fans in the North East. Not a chance they wouldnt sell out for this game, literally none.

Agree 100%. We'll get slaughtered for anything less than our average and rightly so. I'd even wager Boro would pull in 27-28k for a play off semi.

I can’t go, love to but I’m away Sunday morning for graft so want to spend my last night with me wife and bairns......soz like

so going by your rules. my old man who saw his first game in 1936, isn't a supporter anymore as he was told to leave the stadium before we last played Leicester. this caused him, myself and my daughter to pack in our season cards.
Huh? That isn’t what I said at all, and he’d be a supporter because he has supported the club financially, just not one who is currently ‘supporting.’ Re-read what I actually said.

It is for some people. For a bloke who takes his kids it isn't 'only 20 quid'

Haway man, its bollocks, have 3 less beers before the match or a pack of tabs less and its the price of a bairns ticket.....The season tickets have been mental value this season, me and the lads have cost less than £14 a game for league games....Thats less than many non league clubs.

I agree they would and you just know if we go through there will be a mad scramble for Wembley tickets, more criticism of the club for those who cant get them and tens of thousands singing "Sunderland till I die" in Trafalgar square. Its just platitudes and bull shit if you dont actually mean it.

Is that under 12?

He's 7.

It's not bollocks at all. I've been in the position where I couldn't afford it. Just count yourself lucky you can.

It’s not my definition, and yes, if they have contributed towards ‘supporting’ the club financially, they are a ‘supporter.’

I don't put much stock into the terms 'fan' and 'supporter' tbh.

Meanings of words change, over the years, and these are good examples.

A Sunderland born & bred ex-SC exile, in Australia may not be a fanatic or financially support the club ...

... what would you call them?

i wouldnt be so sure. they barely get that at the moment when fighting at the right end of the championship. give them a full calendar year with no wins at home, double relegation, an underwhelming season in L1, a team with that could bore a glass eye to sleep, and form of one win in last 7, and i think every club in the country would be thankful to get 25k

Mate its about priorities, Im a Suddicker, Im certainly not loaded but as an SAFC fan there is no chance I could miss a play off semi final if I lived in the City. If I had to I would eat beans on toast for the week and spend the £20 I saved on scran on going to the match.
