Gibside. Someone told me it was rubbish and not worth visiting.

Ended up going as a mystery shopping job thinking it would be a free day out with the bairns.

Loved it and have been back several times since.

Durham.

On our doorstep and massively under appreciated.

We were on the piss through there recently and a couple of the lads said something like “never realised how much Durham had to offer. I’m bringing our lass for a day out”. Lads that have lived in Sunderland all their lives ffs

Not so much an attraction but the killing fields in Cambodia is a somber life changing experience.

I was there and some people in the hostel didnt even bother visiting any of the historical sites

Funnily enough I was considering posting this. We popped along for the food festival a few weeks ago and the centre is canny. Auckland Tower is a welcome addition.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park is wonderful on a pleasant day too. I was expecting it to be turd.
Edit Leeds City museum was absolutely chod FWIW.

Escomb Saxon Church is well worth a look if you're in the Bishop Auckland area. One of the oldest churches in the UK and it really isn't appreciated locally (in my opinion).

Part of problem for Escomb is that they built all those houses round it
