Line of Duty series 5

Hawes was head and shoulders the best. Play Denton magnificently, and the character was really well written.

In contrast, I thought Newton's character was appallingly written and any amount of good acting couldn't have saved that stinker of a series.

Gates and Denton were both really well-written characters, thought Dot was a bit panto at times but thought he became far more interesting in the third series once he knew that the net was closing in on him.

Couldn't agree more on Newton's character (can't even remember her name), really poorly written with no redeeming features whatsoever and I thought Newton pretty much phoned her performance in as a result.

Aye, he won't be the only one that can't spell definitely. It's one of those words that people struggle with. So maybe a coincidence.
Definately a coincidance.

'Definately' was on an earlier message from H. Also mentioned on here some pages back (by me :)).
I carnt be bothered to to cheque but was definately one of the pre-programmed reesponsus on the computer?

Yup, I avoid threads on programs until I'm up to speed on said program otherwise its asking for trouble tbh ;).
It's definately spelled programme. See, all those years of calling people 'spelling and grammar Nazis' will catch up with you in the end.

Hastings orders to bring this to a close could have been the message to Lisa so she knows it was him typing by spelling definitely incorrectly. Bring things to a close was to take out Corbett. Although it does almost seem to be too obvious to be Hastings.

What’s the name of that copper who gave Hastings the money?

It makes no sense if its Ted or anyone else in AC12. They've all known that Corbett was an undercover copper since first hearing about operation Peartree so if it was one of them then they'd have had Corbett killed in ep 1.

I think the stupid f***ing metro paper could have just spoiled the rest of this series for me today, arseholes .
Avoid, and if you haven't like me you'll know why I'm pissed off.

Its reminding me more and more about what happened with say popular series "Twin Peaks" back in the 80s... They made a one season show, it got vvpopular, so David Lynch wrote 'filler' in between initial episodes and final two episodes of last season... with Line of Duty its like seasons 1 and 2, possibly a section of season 3 and then everything since then was just 'filler' to now head towards actual finale since rediscovery of body in freezer from season 1 (would also explain drop in quality mid way through season 3)... then by the time this reaches its conclusion in next season and it all gets wrapped up... fast forward ten or twenty years and people will be saying they should have just made 3 seasons in total (first 2 and half seasons and straight into final episodes of last season) ;)

Discusting

I get that the person writing this fantasy TV show is trying to tell us that All Cops Are Bastards... and we should Never... Ever give them Guns!!!!.

First time I actually felt involved in the series because Corbetts character was given some depth by wanting to make a stand. Other than that he literally did nothing other than tell everyone he hates bent coppers and calls them bent coppers. Poor use of an excellent actor.

Almost certain that Lisa is undercover and is basically doing what you’re meant to think Corbett was doing. She’s planted there by Hastings to get H but has crossed the line making him a hypocrite blah. I thought that in episode 1 though. It's gone absolutely nowhere except Maneet and Corbett dead basically for no reason.

Better episode but it's been utterly mediocre. The thrilling mystery and clever plotting of 1-3 been replaced by the contrivances of how someone spells a word.

Also LOD been excellent at treading fine lines in respect to hugely sensitive subject matter but this is the first episode where I feel they got it wrong with the livestock bit. Nasty situations involving abused women solely for the sake of creating drama and tension. Not a fan.
