Hopefully the police will also accept their not inconsiderable role in it and will be similarly honest, and hopefully more of the perpetrators can be found and can receive a knock on the door. Hopefully just a one off where at least no one was seriously injured and lessons can be learned

They are still trawling through stadium CCTV looking to make more arrests.
He has policed upteen derbies and Euro championships, said he'd not come across a group of fans as bad as that lot.
Certainly took resposibility.

Quite simply, they are the worst fans to ever to visit the SOL. What needs to be highlighted is; it was not a minority that was disruptive - it was the MAJORITY.

Totally agree, worst i've experienced in the 30 odd years i've been going. It was an Extreme set of circumstances.

Basically apologising about what went on on Saturday and taking responsibility for it, as ultimatley the buck stops with him.
They had liased with numbers of different coventry groups about the travelling support, protest groups to be as accomodating as possible and basically had it all thrown back in the clubs face.
In all of the games coventry have travelled to they haven't used a single pyrotechnic.. they set off 5 at our place (2 arrested specifiaclly for this)
The first arrests of their supporters were as they got off one of the buses at 12:15 and were instantly causing bother, then further arrests in the Wheatsheaf.
The head security steward was indeed sacked at half time for gross misconduct, he wasn't doing his job, he was watching the game from the north stand upper while it was all kicking off, he then attempted to argue at the control room door in the 2nd half as to why he'd been sacked and had to be removed.
Disciplinary action to be taken against a number of stewards for not doing their job properly and not communicating correctly higher up the chain. Agree'd that stewarding wasnt carried out as it should have been and "Theres nothing i can do" is not an acceptable answer.
No glass is available in the away support concourse, glass must have been smuggled in from outside (search protocols reviewed)
Soft drinks will be decanted from bottles into plastic cups for away support going forward.
Spreading away fans into the premier concourse to keep the front rows, clear can be done.

The club are taking it seriously, putting plans in place for the future and also holding their hands up.

What about the police. I don't really expect any knacker steward to do much to stop trouble, especially in large numbers.

The police on the other hand...

And yet on their forums they reckon it was just the odd bottle that went each time they scored.

Whilst they were obviously absolute wankers I often hear this attacking women and children line trotted. Were they specifically picking them out when hoying stuff?

Could be right marra. Just seems that, from looking on their forum, that they are saying it was a minority, but condemning them. Dunno, I wasn't beneath it all but from other people it sounded more like a main group at the front of the stand who were causing the problems.

It was more widespread than just the front of the stand, being underneath at the front of the north stand the bottles etc were coming from further back, the CCTV footage the club have shows this also.

Fair enough sir. Tbf I've only gone off what some of others have said and an extended video from the away section during the game.
 
Public order were offences committed and yet the police stood by and watched it unfold- quite a few were at the ground level exit in the NW corner and appeared to just watch on. just . There certainly seems to have been a lack of coordinated response to the problems and surely the Safety Officer is the person who has to shoulder the ultimate responsibility not just the Chief Steward who has been sacked.
 
The Police should have gone in and dragged a few out as soon as it started. They allowed it to continue all match and our stewards are more concerned with making our own fans sit down in the south stand. Shame our mighty stewards didn’t fancy making the Coventry fans sit down.

The chief steward was watching the match, facing away from thhe incident which is why i believe he was sacked. The safety officer accepted ultimate responsibility for the episode and held his hands up to the failings of procedures on the day.

I don't think they were targeting women and kids in the ground (not sure what they were like out of the ground mind), but they obviously knew there would be bairns in the section below and didn't give a fuck so it's pretty much the same thing. I mention kids when talking about it because seeing the scared faces of some of the bairns around me is what really pissed me off. I've experienced worse than that it a ground, and I knew I could easily go somewhere else in the ground if I wanted to and I'd obviously be back the next game but knowing some of these kids were at risk, and some might not want to come back, pissed me right off.

With responsibilty come s a level of accountability- what sort of bollicking/sanctions will the Safety officer be in for. Bet we never get know as it will be kept in house.

Good post marra. Anyway, when it comes to lobbing bottles from a height (and knowing you can't be got at) it's just as cowardly if those below are all blokes.

Bloke 2 seats to the left of me and one row behind got hit with a bottle. I had to put a 5 year old on my knee in front of me to try and shield him. They won't have been specifically aiming at kids (or anyone for that matter) and they won't have aimed for the bloke they hit... But they still hit him. Basically they just didn't give a fuck who they hit. Same thought process as the police.

I was at Coventry when they did exactly the same with rocks.
