Shooting in a mosque in NZ...

There will always be conflict like, one thing people forget, people justify doing it through their own means and beliefs, there has never ever been a point in human history where mass atrocities weren't taking place.

People can blame radicalisation or the internet or whatever, but sadly these events would still take place.

The holocaust was less than a 100 years ago man ffs

You're incredibly naive if you actually think that.
And you're plain wrong if you don't.

Anjem Choudary encourages people to act out the worst verses in the Qur'an and Hadith.

TR goes on BBC Asia to discuss how we can help Muslims escape extremism.

These are not the same.

Ah right. Only seen the other one but reports saying multiple casualties at two locations now. So more than one shooter or one bloke travelling?
Yeah 4 were arrested. 2 shooters dropped off at 2 mosques I think

So we’ve now reached the stage in global atrocities where they’re being designed for “likes” and to become viral memes. What the fuck is going on.

No different to when hostage executions are videoed, or road side bombs videoed, which has been going on for years. Its a tool to terrorise and influence. Obviously as technology improves the methods do too.

Saint Tommy encourages people to block rape helplines.

What the fuck!?

I don't conflate supporters with the people they support. When you have millions following you, you can find enough people to validate any point.

However I agree TR's thoughts on Trump are something I profoundly disagree with him on. I think he's incredibly naive in his support of Trump. At the same time he's not the brightest bloke anyway, he's very conflicted on a lot of the things he says and does.

All I'm saying is that he's not an extremist, he's never told anyone to commit murder. In fact in his oxford speech he warned about "so called" retaliation attacks and how to stop them years before the finsbury attack and he was wrongly accused of having caused/inspired it in the media.

If Tommy Robinson was the worst problem the world had it would be a very peaceful place. But there are people far far far worse then him in Islam and far right alike. And he should not be conflated with them.
What I dislike about people like Tommy is that they are obsessed with one issue. They attract people who are potentially dangerous by luring them in, and convincing them that it's ok to feel the way they do. That's exactly how Hitler lured in millions of Germans to happily kill for him. There is no place in society for hate speech of any kind no matter what side of the fence it's from.

Well, in all fairness, I didn't know he did that.

Agreed, but games these days are different, they aren’t playing on an 8bit 4 colour game. Hyper realistic, hyper addictive, human players killing human players. Death is rewarded and praised. They even call them ‘death matches’, it’s providing the basic training to carry out tragedies like today or school shootings.
  fuck off with the blaming computer games shite man.

Just picking some information from our News sites here in NZ, you'll probably know most of this already, sorry.

What we know:
* A gunman walked into a mosque on Deans Ave, Christchurch carrying a semi-automatic weapon and opened fire. He live streamed the attack.
* A second shooting occurred at a mosque in Linwood.
* At least 49 people were dead as of 9pm - 41 at the Central Mosque, 7 at Linwood Mosque, 1 in Christchurch Hospital.
* 48 people are in hospital with gunshots wounds as of 9pm, including young children. Other injured went to medical centres.
* A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder and is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Saturday morning.
* He was arrested on Brougham St in a car which had explosives and guns inside.
* The shooter identified himself as 28-year-old, Australian-born Brenton Tarrant.
* None of the suspects were on any police or terror watchlists.
* Two others remain in custody. A fourth person arrested on Friday was not related to these events, police say.
* Christchurch Hospital had 12 operating theatres in use on Friday night. Some of the injured require multiple surgeries.
* Families have shown up at the hospital and at the Deans Ave cordon seeking news of families members.
* A missing people's register has been set up at https://familylinks.icrc.org/new-zealand/en/Pages/Home.aspx
* Families and friends can also register missing people on 0800 115 019.

Youtube is pulling them down as fast as they can but the 8chan arseholes keep uploading them.

I don't advise anybody to go looking for the video unless you want nightmates for the rest of your life.

Seemed like something out of a videogame - just surreal. How did he amass so many heavy weapons like those he used?

Most people don't know a lot about Tommy Robinson. I used to think he was this evil f***ing right wing Nick Griffin style racist.

I've seen loads of interviews and debates and stuff with him on. He isn't at all.

He's a knob at times, he does really immature and twatty things because he certainly didn't feel the responsibility of what he was doing and got caught up in his movement. He admits this himself.

But he is not on the same page as anjem Choudary, he never has been and I believe never will be.

Don't have to like the guy but it's just a fact that he isn't this monster some make him out to be.

Well, in all fairness, I didn't know he did that.
Tommy Robinson - "I offer my hand of friendship to any muslim in Britain that wishes to oppose Fascism, not just far right fascism, cos that should be opposed and racism should be opposed and those statistics you said about (muslim) women being attacked, it's all wrong. But any muslim in Britain that wishes to oppose the barbaric views that we are seeing propogated in their religion and name"

Whether you like him or hate him I'm just saying extremists don't talk like this

A perfect example of how bias affects opinions on a story.

A country like New Zealand FFS.
I've always thought if I ever emigrated somewhere, it would be to a country like New Zealand.
They seem to have it sussed, a beautiful peaceful country without any real issues regarding religion or whatever.
Then these fuckin monsters do this.

Aye , just watched, didn't expect Youtube to be letting things like that on. The first thing I thought was it looked like one of those videogames, absolutely surreal.

So despite everything that has already been said, you still watched it. And then have the nerve to blame someone else for letting you watch it?

If you have seen the video, which I hope you haven’t, you’ll understand.

He is basically recreating a computer game.

I agree. If you showed that shocking video to a lot of kids they probably wouldn't bat an eye, as pre-programmed to associate with the games environment.
