People get carried away don't they.

Portsmouth players and supporters celebrated, like they've won the league, when they beat us and went 8 points clear.

Barnsley seem to have counted their whippets too early and taken their eye of the rabbit.

We've both wobbled imo.

Our form, over the last 5 games, is better .... they're away tomorrow and we're at home Saturday.

I think they'll lose and we'll win.

The draws unfortunately look set to cost us. I cannot see us winning enough to overhaul Barnsley unless they implode and that looks unlikely.

It's been a better season than I expected but I suspect we are heading for the play-offs.

We will be a whole point behind with 9 games to make it up if we win our game in hand.

I would say it's almost mathematically impossible. Ladbrokes would probably have Barnsley at 1/250 and SAFC 250/1 for automatic promotion.

We are on a losing streak with 2 defeats already this season.

We could of course catch them, cos if they drop points and we do not, we will overtake them.

If you are asking is it likely we will go above them? The odds are against too many draws, too many distractions (tinpot cup) and fixture congestion mitigate against us winning games

Hope you're wrong too, but I think what you say is fair and find it hard to disagree.

Important for us to just keep the pressure up though - you never know how teams can wobble when it comes to the crunch. There's some surprise results left in this season, for Luton too I reckon (who are starting to dry up a bit goals-wise).
 
Not just Barnsley, but Pompey and Charlton aren't out of it yet. Worried about our lack of goals upfront, and fixture congestion, to be truthful if someone was to offer us a place in the play off final now, I would grab it.

Lack of goals!!!! We’ve scored 9 in last five games. Jesus.
 
Not a cat in hell's chance i hope i am wrong but i do not think we will make the play offs get beat at Wembley and they will feel sorry for themselves for weeks.

The end of season promotion/relegation scramble always produces surprise results.

Luton and Barnsley have reached the top two places by playing an open style of football. That becomes increasingly difficult when the pressure builds towards the end of the season. Ross has Sunderland playing a more cautious style but perhaps it suits the 'business end' of the season. We now have 4 of the next 6 games at home with 3 consecutive at the SOL.

By the time we go to Peterborough it could've become the game where we can go 2nd, it just has that feel about it from the last 3rd division season ...

... big away support at a club not too far away, a defence that's conceded as many as the bottom team and probably throwing caution to the wind for a play off place.

I've already booked the time off work :cool:
 
We are 4 points behind with a game in hand. Barnsley have lost their top scorer for the season and have had three 0-0 draws on five games. We have started scoring more last 5 games. And yet according the the fuckwits on here we have no chance. We might go up automatically, we might not. But it’s hardly written off. We hardly have to “catch” Barnsley, they are only just above us.
 
I think we will just fall short. But let's stop this idea that Barnsley are way better than us. We took 4 points off them FFS. :lol:
There's no doubt we have drawn too often but just imagine the perception if we had won a couple of games that we drew after early red cards. We'd be level with a game in hand after having took 4 points off them.
Barnsley are nothing special. Neither are we.
