I thought the story line was lame.
The story of every Marvel film is pretty lame Tbf.

Was a decent ride which is all you can expect from a Marvel movie really.

Even though I’m a massive sci fi fan I cannot get away with the marvel stuff. Bores me to tears and something just not quite right about them.
They aren't sci-fi, much in the way Star Wars isn't sci-fi. I wouldn't use liking sci-fi as a barometer for whether you'd like a superhero film tbh.

Then I’m struggling to think of the genre. You’ll have to help me out.

Could call them action or action/comedy I guess. I think there are enough of them to call "superhero movie" a genre in its own right personally.
Ultimately there is a lot of this type of stuff labelled as sci fi when it’s nothing of the sort and in the last few years the tag of fantasy has been added, so it’s moot point, hence my question to you.

Thought it was really good. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Edit - the spoiler I tried to put in the spoiler brackets isn’t showing for me?

I expect that like Wonder Woman and Black Panther it'll be a perfectly decent if not great superhero film that's built up to be either better than Citizen Kane or worse than Highlander 2 depending on the particular axe you want to grind.

Eh? Highlander 2 is unreal.

Saw it yesterday. Funny, entertaining, informing and all round classic superhero movie with a good spirit and a "beat em up'" edge to it. Good acting by Brie Larson, Jude Law and Samuel L. Jackson.

Only limitation is that it only seems to serve as a stage fitter for the upcoming avengers movie by introducing her as a character and setting out her relationship with fury. We are left wondering what she is doing otherwise between now and then.

I enjoyed it. Shoehorned a few explanations of MCU loose ends in like. But it also allowed those of us who knew what Fury’s pager in Infinity War was all about (without having it explained to them on here) to bask in a moment of smug mode.

I want to know what Fury did for 10 years between this and Iron Man. He seems to have done fuck all to progress the Avengers Initiative between the two apart from hire Hawkeye and BW.

I want to know how the daughter didn’t age in six years either.

If you talking about Monica Rambeau, she did, she was played by two sisters - Azari Akbar (5) and Akira Akbar (11)

Incidentally in the mainstream MCU Monica became an energy based hero initially also called Captain Marvel and changed her name to Photon.
