Oh good. Can we cancel Comic Relief now and save ourselves from the hideous 'comedy' from has beens and never will bes?

There is a narrative and manipulation in these programmes.

They don't portray Africa in the best of light. Obviously they want people to feel sorry for the unfortunates.

It is whites that are saving the black unfortunates. Hence, white saviour comment.
 
I do see where he's coming from but for me he's just picked the wrong target. There is a lot to be said for continued economic growth in Africa and yes, we might get a distorted image of what is going on but I think he should have a word with Lenny Henry before he makes comments like this. Politicians should help with the political situations and let charities deliver their work where it's needed.

Stacy Dooley is lovely and she does her job well. She doesn't shirk issues, she defends her position and her response to Lammy was appropriate and fair.

Yeah, just listened to David Lammy explaining it and that’s fair enough. Maybe Comic Relief should concentrate it’s efforts on domestic issues instead.
 
There was just a black lass on TV saying that there are millions of white children in the UK living in the same poverty :lol: and we don’t want to focus on them because we want to keep portraying Africa is backwards. Absolute f***ing nonsense. Racist for raising millions to help.

Not really a massive fan of her wouldn't say she was stunning, wouldn't kick her out of bed given the chance either though.

I think a lot of people who do Comic Relief are doing it for their own ego and push their career. At the same time some people like Stacey Dooley are doing it because they want to. I think Lammy is right and wrong at the same time. He's right about the 'White Saviour' comment but wrong to label all white celebrities who do charitable work in Africa with the same tag.
