I am trying to recall those 1-0 wins. Once Daren bent scored with a header at the same end as the one posted on here. In another one I think Adam Johnson (can I say his name?) scored with a curling shot at the old away end. Think the first game at the sol was 3-1? You were at your best with Quinn, Philips and summerbee at the time.

I remember after one of those games telling my dad that we had made a mistake buying David Silva and he was too lightweight for the premier league. Shows what I know.
Summerbee played for you that day.

Do you ever miss the days of Shaun Goater and Andy Kereghan? I know winning everything is great but does it get a bit sterile, repetitive and boring?

I remember watching the Man City "celebrations" at the Cup Final and thinking it all looked a bit tame and relaxed...just another victory . If we had won it would have been chaos!!!

bloody hell - had me nearly in tears.

You are some club.

I was at Maine road when you brought 15,000 with Garry Bennett playing and you got relegated. Then came up there for the first game at the sol.

Then about 4 times when you seemed to always win1-0 in the last minute.

Then of course in London when you were great in the league cup final.

I genuinely think your support is as good as any in the country and I can’t wait to see you get back.

I was impressed by Coleman to be honest In the programme and wondered why he didn’t stay and finish the job of bringing you back. Also is that chief executive still with you? He seemed passionate enough but a bit clueless?

Anyway wishing you all the best and hope you get back up automatically and apologies for rodwell!!!

Without a doubt my second club and a genuinely held belief shared by a huge majority on our forum blue moon that you are a fantastic bunch and a great club.

All the best

It’s a pity yr mates who nearly threw me under a train at darlo station & others who chased me down the lines & under a tunnel at Brum NS didn’t think the same :lol:

Both witnessed by @Parsoncross

Only time I have been to Maine Road was for Full Members cup game in 85. Freezing night, crap game, lost on penalties after 0-0 draw, don't think there was more than 7000 there in total, City fans invaded the pitch to celebrate.

That game at Maine road was my 2nd ever away match. I was 13 at the time. My first away game was earlier the same season at old Trafford aka the Paul Williams game. Great memories even though we lost both games and of course went down on the final day

It’s a shame they didn’t catch you.

To be fair Lee sharpe was unbelievable in that first half. From memory John Jay was brought on to ‘look after’ sharpe in the second half and he didn’t have quite as much joy attacking the Stretford end! We must have had 6 or 7,000 there that afternoon. Atmosphere was electric

Could very well be wrong but I though that Bally went to right back for the second half...

You might be right. I’m sure Kay came on, maybe a reshuffle or was it Ball who replaced Williams? Either way, sharpe was noticeably quieter after the break, albeit the game was done at 0-3

Checked StatCat- Hardyman came on at HT for Williams, so looks like Ordy must have started at LB and moved to CB alongside Bennett and Bally moved across to RB. Bally must have just threatened to kick Sharpe into the stand- or more likely, Man Utd just switched off for the 2nd half.

I was too young for the game when we got relegated but always liked going to Maine Road. Best atmosphere I've seen at an away match (from home fans) was their first home game of the season after getting promoted back to the prem. Paolo wanchope hat-trick. It was always a good atmosphere there - the night match when we won 1-0 and Phillips broke record for scoring in consecutive games was pretty tasty!
