It does make sense though. I'm coming in the house in need of a shower, the dog could do wish a wash, me showering first then getting dressed to wash the dog means I'm going to get soaked.

Wash the dog first then have your shower? Or, don't get dressed after your shower....

The temperature knob is really stiff so once you've set it and turned the shower on and it/your hands get wet, you can't change the temperature during the shower.

Shower the dog first. You get wet, take your dirty clothes off, then shower.

Stop trying to justify a romantic shower with the dog you deviant

That's how it was when we moved in mate. Downstairs bathroom near the front door with a bath/shower and an en suite at the top with a shower in it.
