I don’t think the gates would drop if he went. They’ve never dropped despite relegations, renaming ground, selling every decent player etc. Benitez isn’t as glorified by all as some may believe.

In an interview last week with a good friend of mine off sky sports, Rafa said off the record that he is leaving at the end of the sesaon.

I’m sorry, I’m not accusing anybody of making things up, but I stopped believing the ‘heard from a mate’ stories years ago.
For what it’s worth, I hope he does go I just don’t think he will.

I call 'bullshit'. Sky wouldn't keep that confidential, they would be all over it in their "Sky Sports News understands" kind of way.

Season ticket sales will take hit massively next season. There are countless examples across fans forums and social media of people saying they are jacking it in after this season, myself included.

And they did drop in 2009/10. We only got 36K v Reading but with wins they sharp rose again.

If we were to be relegated and Benitez left we'd be at that mid-30s number on a regular basis imo plus we don't have the assets to sell to get a leg-up in an immediate return back to the Premier League.

Benitez stays he's a mug or just after money or both, if he was to wrap it in as a matter or principle he'd be a coward.
He's done his time and seen his contract through, and in May he'll be managing his last game.
He leaves with dignity and having played the politics game his reputation still in tact.
Whilst I think he's had nothing near the support of the hierarchy a manager at any club should expect, he's looked after himself in letting it be known that he's working under a prohibitive regime.
When I was reading Keegan's book it sounded like much the same was happening to him then.

At the end of the day, he's been happy to take the coin just like Pardew who you all deride for it.

We derided Pardew for being a sycophantic chump. Seems weird to chastise someone for taking a wage for employment.

'But he finished fifth!1!!11one!11oneeleven'

Or none of the big boys wanted him.
Probably that as well.

He did finish 5th and never really had yous in relegation bother.

Suppose season finished 16th sailed close to wind but don’t recall you spending much time if any in bottom 3.

If we stay in premier league, the gates will stay the same as this season regardless of who is manager. Just my opinion.

You said they never dropped despite relegation, they did massively.
Newcastle fans are no different to any other set of fans despite what the media tell us.

You’d think these mags bitching at one and other on this forum would find somewhere else to do it....

One of them hardly ever posts on here anymore....... looks like he spend most of his weekend posting on this forum.

Aye. You'd think they'd be standing outside shops giving each other knowing winks and nods or summit.
