Nearly a million more young adults now live with parents

Nope. Have a modest mortgage on a nice house in Newcastle at the age of 27.

If I was arsed I could massively overpay because my mortgage is a small amount of my take home. Would be gone pretty quickly.

Obviously in terms of your age at the time.
Well done marra, it takes dedication to achieve what we have, you can’t be a pisshead and live a life of Riley unless you earn mega bucks.

Honestly mate, well done.

Maybe when I'm gone you might have a chance of coming out of a discussion on top.

You’ve said literally nothing of note other than wages were lower but things were cheaper when you were young.

Cheers Captain Obvious. Brand new infiormation!

I do alright but clearly that’s the intention within the next 10 years.

I appreciate this isn't necessarily any of our business, but you put this up so I'm going to ask.
How old is your daughter and does she have a partner and if so, where do they live?

You never tell another woman’s age, but she doesn’t currently have a partner so she lives with me.

Take what you can get I say, just a bit rich preaching about standing on your own two feet when you're reliant on others.

This. Probably don’t belittle a whole group of people without knowing their circumstances when your own circumstances leave you reliant on help from the state.

Which is fine btw. Just chill out about kids whose parents are funding them rather than the taxpayer as a whole.

Aye because I'm a working mother on a low wage. Okay then snidey fucker, I stood on my own 2 feet for 16 years, then I needed a little help when I changed to part time hours.

Oh dear you're wrong again!! I said that we were paid the going rate, but made do with owld second hand stuff we could afford, until we saved up for something better. You really should pay attention, or stay off the lash

Nowt wrong with that, glad you have the help you need, just no need to be "snidey" about others.
I wasn't being snidey in the slightest. I was saying how a lot of young folks want to stay at home as it's cheaper than having your own place (especially if they like nice things and go out a lot).

And here is the point you spectacularly missed. If you turn up at a job interview these days wearing knackered, shite clothes you will (unfortunately) be less likely to get the job.

If you start turning up to work looking like a scruff in front of, say, a client, you might rightly get pulled to one side and get told to sort it out.

It’s a different world today.

As I say - the only point you made is it was different back then. No shit?!

Some do, some don't.

Some rely on state benefits, some don't.

Each to their own really.

A lot of 40-odd year old folks smash gin back despite being reliant on benefits.

I don’t actually care. But just leave others alone. You have your circumstances, they have theirs. Ok?

I don't smash gin back ya daft get, I don't go out, I don't have a social life, I don't buy expensive gear, I save all year for Christmas and birthdays, I don't have holidays and just about get by ffs - living the life of Riley me mind
Why are you sticking the boot in anyhoo? I'm not picking on anyone ffs, I understand why folks would still live at home, it's far f***ing cheaper than having your own place.
