New Music Releases Thread

Not yet, going to see them in April so will have a listen. To be honest besides Rip Tide I’ve not heard an awful lot by them!

I'm hoping to pick up a cheap ticket for that one depending on plans. Give No No No a listen, it's their most accessible record.

Bloody love Rip Tide though, a beauty.

Got this new one on again. It's a luscious album, a lot of layers in there. It's Beirut but with a bit more depth musically.

Just had it on there. It's very much a Beirut record but there's no much you can do with that sound. Enjoyed it quite a lot though, looking forward to another listen.

Think I will get into this as they have done one of my fave ever records in No No No.

Everybody knows that Ian Brown can’t sing, so why has he decided to ruin his new album with auto tune? On some tracks (like the opener) it’s all I can hear! I’d rather we just had good old out of tune Ian!

Whats the album like? Havnt got round the listening to it yet

Predictably its poor, although I don’t mind ‘the dream and the dreamer’ ( track 4 )

To be fair I’ve not been a fan of much of his output so don’t take my opinion as gospel.

Every album of his has auto tune and/or reverb on the vocal.

Starting to catch up with stuff but getting distracted... for what it's worth...

Grand Veymont by Grand Veymont - Stereolab fan? Listen to this, it's bloody magnificent. They're French...
Surrender by Bendik Giske - aggressive gay jazz from what I can tell (it's jazz and aggressive and their website mentions queer a lot). Scandinavian and/or German. Lots of sax...
Un "Sung Stories" by Phil Alvin - not new as it was recorded in 1983 but this is the vocalist from The Blasters (big with Uncut writers type band) doing a covers album as his solo debut. It's very, very good!

Really looking forward to These New Puritans next album 'Inside The Rose' (currently scheduled for 22/3). Received the 7" of 'Into The Fire' on Saturday.
