Oops, the way you were explaining the club's finances I thought you'd know, especially as it was part of your argument .... I did and I'm not as 'NUFC educated' as yourself.

So, how much do you believe the 'staying up bonus' might be, just a round figure.

And, does the £250 million value, you guessed at, include future TV money or not.

It makes a massive difference I'm sure you'll agree.

If Ashley had sold the advertising space, he could have used the money to pay himself the interest he should have received on the loans he made to keep the club afloat. He could also also have paid himself a wage and a dividend like Shepherd and Hall used to do. This would all have been above board. And cost the club a lot more than the benefit he received from this so called free advertising, but that’s Mike, always putting the club first.

He’s only asking for £150m for the club and for whoever buys it to also pay him back the £150m loan that the club owes him, yet despite being one of the worlds biggest clubs in some people eyes, no one is really interested at that price. What Ashley should do is repay all the loans he is due and then he can sell the club for £150m.

It would be interesting to see if he can attract a buyer (with the the actual cash) at that price , but even better to see the meltdown up the road as he starts to use the tv money to repay the debt.

I reckon in alternative reality if Newcastle fans all loved Ashley even if he'd ran the club exactly the same way as he has and we'd had the two relegations etc then Sunderland fans would be trying to point out all the flaws that Newcastle fans currently dislike about him.

"They dislike somebody? Lets defend him to the hilt and make him seem way better than he really is".

Excellent post.

The mags couldn't see themselves being fleeced and all but bankrupted by the dodgy dealings of the Halls and Shepherd simply because the results were decent...

You were spending as much money as Blackburn and Man Utd at the time. Man Utd were pretty much the richest club in the world and Blackburn were being backrolled by a billionaire lifelong fan.

You on the other hand were just running up £170M in debt. Oh and the other 2 actually won the title...
