Well the whole discussion doesn’t matter since it’s been confirmed that he was offered an improved contract last year and offered what he wanted this year. So your claim about the club being equally to blame, is incorrect
When was the first contract offered ?

We still haven’t even touched on the ‘deadline’ - which was an absolutely horrific decision to publicise that.

£3.5m is a brilliant piece of business considering the circumstances. (Providing we sign someone else)

He’s only performed for half a season in league one and celebrates like he’s Mbappé! His lack of pace and low number of shots make me wonder if he will be able to do it against better defenders.

Anthony Stokes had scored 18 in 22 in the SPL when we signed him and he was awful for us in the Championship

Did notice his lack of pace against Scunthorpe...he was out sprinted to a ball in which he had a head start. Stood out to me...

That is a reliable source then. To be fair to Maja, reports were saying personnel terms would not be an issue and he was most likely off to a medical in France soon after. I can see why he would assume, his time at SoL was over.

You should never assume mate, wait until the deal is done and part on good terms, no need to act like a spoilt child about it.

I'd be surprised if he gets a start week in week out , if we were in the premier and were buying maja most fans would be saying he's one for the future , he's still rough round the edges but good luck to him , seems a nice lad hope he does well

Blame for what ? He is doing what I would , get the most while you can
What are you on about man, the poster I was talking to, said the club was equally to blame, not even talking about him

Aye, stay here on trainee's wages for a checkatrade semi final or become an instant milionaire in a team challenging for European places and about to play a league cup semi-final. I don't know what's 'goosed up' about that.

You can say what you like about the character of Maja and his agent, but he won't regret leaving Sunderland.
What you just said, I don't agree with. Texasmackem? No! Sunderland supporter would say what you just said.

We all know it won't be made official until near the deadline day, therefore leaving us with the perfect excuse as to why a replacement wasn't signed in time

While I completely agree on that, who knows if someone might have advised Maja to pack his stuff in advance rather than returning to a club where his popularity may have taken a substantial hit over the last weeks.

It’s on this thread mate post 6831 when Coleman said he thinks they will sign. April 2018
I agree about the deadline, but I’m sure someone from the club clarified that it wasn’t a deadline for him to sign, merely the club needed to know one way or another

Think you're over thinking it tbh mate.

The only reason his popularity has dipped is because he was saying he wanted to stay whilst have no intention of doing so....it's his own fault for not being man enough to say so weeks ago.

The lad is a tart.

the first contract was offered when coleman was manager..
the deadline shouldnt have been public..charlie fucked that up badly..i think i know what the rationale for it was..but it was the wrong call to make..

Deadline was bang on or he would fooked us around until the end of Jan....

Oh hold on....

arguably the deadline was made ppublic to flush pout bis and we got 3.5m for a player not worth that with six months left..i still think making it public was wroing but oif they aim was to create demand it worked in that respect,..

Well, there are players who are dumb like that, Maja just never struck me as one. You don't exactly see his name in the tabloids having done something stupid. That's why I'm leaning towards his agent being a weasel.

Nowt personal marra but have you got fat fingers or a teeny weeny keypad, your posts do make for interesting reading.

Depends on what the clauses are and whether they're met.

Just giving an alternative view and a dollop of reality.

No-one in the football world other than those connected with SAFC would consider Sunderland to Bordeaux as anything but a step up (albeit, in our current position) as unpalatable as it is.
