I fail to see how the club is equally to blame. If we’d have given him an improved contract after last season, people would be up in arms, rightly so. He has a good season now, just the one mind and we offered what they had requested

We do not know the other side of the story yet. I am just peeved he is no longer our player.

I disagree. The club could have handed him an extension at the end of last season. If you think he is worth keeping you have to pay it. It’s the risk you take
we offere him a deal at the end of last season..
and the managershould be making the decision nof who he wants to keep..so there was a gap between the demise of coleman and the appointment of JR..

He played 17 games last season, not sure how many from the bench. I don’t think clubs in our position are likely to offer improved contracts until the last year with younger players, especially when he hadn’t done anything out of the ordinary.
That’s the risk we took then. And it didn’t work

Not one he signed Charlie lad

SKP on the move

"If he was to stay at the club and [keep scoring], one you become a Sunderland legend straight away and two, you'd get the move in the summer - I can only assume that someone is in his ear, whether it be his agent or family. "We are talking about yet another young player, if it is about the money, going to chase the money at 20. He has been playing professional football for not even 18 months," he added. "Just continue what you are doing. That would be my advice. Continue playing for Sunderland, help them get promoted then your money is going to go up if you want to stay at Sunderland and if you want to then move at Sunderland. "Just for his development, why would you want to go across to France where Bordeaux are eleventh in the table. He played in front of 47,000 people on Boxing Day. Will he play in front of that at Bordeaux? I am not sure he will.

Bang on.

The lad had done nothing to warrant a big contract at the start of the season, he's now went on to have an outstanding couple of month and we offered him what he wanted, someone else offered him more and judging by that that club's manager, it's to sit on the bench if he's lucky.....if that move isn't money motivated then I don't know what is.

Knowing that we have a sell on clause, I hope he does very well but if he doesn't start straight away, that goalscoring momentum and confidence will disappear.

Doesn't mean anything. His word has been broken before.

If we get the striker from Barnsley, I will be more than happy.
His word may or may not have been broken before, a bit like the keys to Maja’s locker when he couldn’t get his stuff out quick enough

If either him or his agent were unhappy with what the club has said then I’m pretty sure they would have issued a rebuttal by now. After all his agent isn’t averse to using the media.
In this case I’m happy to assume silence is consent.

Maja shown how poor his attitude is from this move. He will do nowt at a decent level now. These are key years to develop and he will now hit a wall.

Fuck him take the money and move on.
