He’s fucked off packed his belongings without the deal being done man, says it all about the lad. Not sure what the club could do here, stand there ground he doesn’t play and leaves end of the season without playing for nowt, or just get as much in as possible now and use the money to bring in someone?. Clubs in a no win situation, he’s forced there hand.

Alright mate but forget about financials and think of the football is what I'm saying. Can't really think of a scenario where a club has befitted (there will be some). Certainly hasn't helped us in recent past

It’s not about moral victories though is it? It’s caused disruption in the sense of them wanting to sell but he was still scoring when he played wasn’t he? I don’t get the rush to sell him.

Moral victories? It's about the whole stance the clubs taking and how it's trying to operate in light of how much of a pushover it's been in the past. It's about getting value for money and not having players or agents take the piss, its about making sure people are 100%, making sure people are here for the right reasons, making sure the club have unity and are going in the right direction, not just a petty argument.

I love Sunderland, but if I was 20 and playing for a city I wasn't from, 250 mile away from my family , and playing in the 3rd league, and I got the opportunity to play in league 1 in France and get paid far more, then I'd do it.
Why do fans always get offended when players want to leave to play at a higher standard for more money.
How dare they leave league 1 Sunderland!
So what has the 250 miles from family got to do with it.

Aye but from a footballing perspective where does it leave us is what I'm asking. Forget about £ for a second
It leaves us looking for another striker , it’s not impossible to find one ,after all maja hadn’t played for us first team wise until the end of last season ,we’ve just got to trust that we’ve got replacements lined up , I would think we have based on what I’ve seen from this regime up to now?

People still saying we shouldn't sell him after he has packed his stuff up and said he won't play.

Idiots.

One side of the story that to be fair. He's played all the league games for us when he's been fit this month & got some really important goals

Good deal to be fair. Hasnt really done owt until this season and you are where you are. The addons make it a good deal. If he goes and you get a proven striker like Grigg you are in the same position and better off financially.
This. Maja has had a good half a season...in League 1. He’ll go nowhere with his career

Nothing you can do about it and sadly one of the downsides from relegation.
You simply have to sell and cash in before a free transfer.

This is the way of life at my Club unfortunately selling is survival.

I know it was obvious that he wasn’t staying anyway but I tell you something, I’m absolutely f***ing sick to the back teeth of football players taking the piss out of this club. It’s beyond a joke like. In some ways I wish SD never mentioned the whole packing his stuff shit, and it was just announced that he’d left. Another player that’s made me feel sick through their shite conduct

Just on a separate point & this is a genuine question:

Can anyone remember a club selling their leading scorer in January when they were going for a title & benefiting?

Or even just in general selling the top scorer & playing better second half of season?

Limited data for us but losing Bent & Grabban killed us. Even some of the boys said about losing Bent on the RR podcast. McGeady criticised the manager for getting rid of Grabban on STID.
You do know he will leave for nothing at the end of the season. We are a league 1 club and that 3.5 million could be spent on the team. Also, the player clearly doesn't want be here or he would have signed his contract.

Club keep him and he starts to misfire and we miss out on promotion and 3.5 million. The club sell him and we still miss out.

The club have a choice to make and only time will tell if it's the correct one.

There’s nowt we could do about it though, it depends what the owners now do.

Well they said months ago we were already looking at players for jan who could sign this window and make step up in Jan so I expect them to have afew lined up.

It is always difficult to replace a goalscorer & integrate people quickly though
