City break in Europe

Not done any European city breaks for a good few years now. Where do you reckon is best for a bit history, cultcha, architecture and the sauce?

Flying from newcastle preferably, Leeds/Bradford or Edinburgh? Three nights mid April.

Need a bit inspiration.

Flying from Ponteland airport do you mean?

Just go to Leicester, and Europe comes to you

And Asia

Depends what you want to do, obviously, but I’d recommend Porto, Copenhagen, Malmö, Reykjavík, Galway...loads of places are worth the visit and if you go with the right mindset you can enjoy anywhere!

Unless you go to Cumbernauld.

5. Is there an area we should be staying /avoiding?
Old town is quite small mate, so anywhere there.

Best pub there is a place called cathead. Craft beer heaven.

Ask at the bar for a beer passport and they give you a book with 12 bars in. Visit all 12 then at the end you get a T-shirt and that.

When are you going? Trying to persuade the lads to go may bank holiday weekend

Great stuff cheers.

Easter weekend. Only place I've been able to find similar price flights and times from Newcastle and London (I'm based down here). Looking to book it all tonight, accommodation is so cheap, 20/30 quid each for the weekend man, mad.

Aye it’s so cheap mate.

We went Easter last year, canny bit was closed on the Sunday but most of the bars were open. Sopot was class and a must see.

Some decent craft beer places in Gdynia and a wicked Mexicans. We went before an arka game.

How much you looking at flights wise if you dont mind me asking?

Bern looking all over and cant seem to find anything reasonable for that weekend... especially with ryanair charging for hand luggage (i think)

I always say Poland is a great place for a weekend plus you can fly to a few destinations from our local airport.

People bum Berlin for some reason. It's decent mind, I've been a few times, but it's not all that
I really liked Berlin and get the fuss about it but one visit was enough. Managed to get everything into a few day trip.

114 return from Newcastle. It's quite expensive but when accommodation is under 40 each, 150 all in from the North east can't be knocked.

If you're going for a weekend you can manage on the small bag Ryanair give you for free. Just a small back pack.

Riga or Warsaw.

Poland is excellent and cheap (in terms of flights and food/drink when you’re there) @chopsfc007, couldn’t quote your post where you mentioned it for some reason

The centre of Rome (the bits you want to see) is not big at all, most are within walking distance, with maybe a 2/3 stop tube to the Colliseum.

Even the coliseum is walkable from the likes of Spanish steps/trevi. Only used the metro to get to and from the station with luggage.

Dont get me wrong prague is lovely I just hate the crowds

Felt that way with Rome.

Doing Prague in October then from there onto Sofia, 3 nights Prague, 4 nights Sofia is the plan.

If that's for the England games what route/price did you get for travel between the two cities?

Ours to Wroclaw was £89 4 days 3 nights with Ryanair, with small case, priority boarding, reserved seats and including 3 star hotel (booked separately). Taxi from airport £7.50 between 4. Few who went spent a bit of coin on additional entertainment, those that didn't spent about £100. So £189 for 4 days.
