fuck him. who does he think he is? he is currently a league 1 standard striker. we are offering very good league 1 standard wages for a 20 year old, and no doubt a clause to up his wages to championship level money if we go up.

what the fuck does he want? greedy bastard. been with us since he was 16, now too good for us. heard it all before.
Spot on. To many small time fans on here wanting to put the owners down and pander to a young footballer who's done fuck all in his career yet..there's no one bigger than the club. He will be replaced .

He wanted to sign the contract. It's his agent that has convinced him not to.

You keep clinging onto this ‘deadline’ thing like someone just killed your puppy. It’s obvious the agent has been stringing the club along with negotiations, if you can’t see that it was the clubs final straw with the agent, then it doesn’t matter what the club did, you’d back Maja first no matter what.

Because it’s achiebed nothing but hated of a young player that doesn’t deserve it.

Because it's more than the fuck all we'll get if he stays until the summer and moves abroad.
So he's gonna move abroad based on what?

Based on some player leicester have tapped up, or moussa dembele who spurs were after and then backed out of the deal

not really because now we can start looking seriously for a replacement. if in the meantime he signs for us, then we stop looking. better to have all eventualities covered than to be hanging on for his decision till the last minute. and if we sign a replacement, and then he changes his mind, well tough luck.

i'm over the moon with how the club are handling this.

We should already have a list of replacements. We should just be starting to look now. If we were organized we would have already complied replacements for every position. Especially ones where the player could leave soon.

So, now that the story is unfolding and it's quite clear from the horses mouth (SD) that it's not a case of 'if the club sells Maja now it's because a few extra quid is more important than keeping your most important player when challenging for promotion' (copyright @samaistonsrightfoot ), how much should he be sold for in this window under the present circumstance ?
What price would allow JR to find a regular goal scorer at league one level, an attacking midfielder and an extra centre back.
I say £4 million.

All of that may be true - but if it is, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s not the sort of player we need here. Whether his refusal to sign at a mere 700% pay rose is down to greed, ego or anything else - the whole point of this new start was that we were going to seek out players who wanted to be here, and who appreciated it.

For now, I’m prepared to give the kid the benefit of the doubt. All I’ve seen is him give 100% and he looks like he’s enjoying himself

Agents are selfish bastards, but selfish bastards that put huge pressure on impressionable young lads who have never been in this kind of situation before.

I remain with some hope that his relationship with Jack Ross is one that will win the day and sway him in the right direction

might be a bit reactionary, but i stand by it. we are offering him a very very good deal. he thinks he can get better elsewhere. fuck him. we are are the perfect club for his current ability, development, age, wages .... everything. what more does he want?

Let’s wait and see mate. Could well be his agent messing stuff up for his own personal greed

Late to this one, it's as clear as mud!

It's not over for me, if Maja has been persuaded by the agent now not to sign hopefully he can be persuaded to sign again.

I don't get players that allow agents to change their mind like.

If Maja wanted to sign the contract he would, it's as simple as that.

He doesn't want to, he wants more money, the agent is taking the brunt of it, so his player still has the good young kid reputation.

End of the day, he's no different than 99% of all footballers and i don't blame him.
