If im honest I would want him away asap, dressing rooms dont take much unsettling and the players need to know that everyone is on the same page when they go into battle. Not sure we need a 20 year old kid who has played half a seasons football thinking he is too big for the club in there.

Why are you putting words in his mouth?

I wouldn’t expect to be booed by my boss if I was on a contract of a defined length of time and decided it was time to move on at the end of it for whatever personal reasons.

Problem is you know as well as I do that once somebody has put their notice in they are rarely the same again at work.

Why are you putting words in his mouth?

Because its the way it will be perceived by many/most.

But being promoted ifs surely worth more than £2.5m

Not next year. We get the same income no matter what, unless gates increase substantially. Because we're still in receipt of parachute payments, we get the same year 3 payment whichever division we're in, rather than the relevant EFL distribution (it's either or, not both). So, income will fall by about £20m next season whatever happens (difference between year 2 and year 3 parachute). It will only make a difference the season after next, when the parachute has run down, and our income will be about £6m more in the Championship (but still lower than it will be next season).

Not notice. Say if you went in as a contractor. 24 month term. What’s it got to do with anyone else if that was the agreement, I’ve done my job and decide not to agree to an offer of an extension?

There will be no “cashing in” as it will cost the club more money to sell now.

People on here think there is going to be huge difference between what we could get now v compensation in summer. If will be next to no difference, especially if he keeps scoring like he is!

I will be shocked if we dont see a downturn in form once he makes it clear he is leaving (if he does)....If he doenst sign we need to cash in and get rid.

We will be due pennies in compo in the summer mind.

Lack of commitment... Why should the fans back him if he doesn't want to be here

If he stays until the end of his contract it isn’t lack of commitment. He’s hardly forced a move half way through it.

Defoe done similar with his clause and people backed him. In fact Defoe was worse because he had a clause added to allow him to fuck off for nowt mid term.

Why presume that he wants to leave just because he doesn't sign by the clubs deadline?

For all we know he might have every intention of signing if we are in the Championship next season.

What if Maja gets injured for most of the rest of the season and we still manage to get promoted? Theres risk on the players side too...I think both sides want something done this window. Unless the club think Maja will play at the same level and risk injury with his contract running out?

I don’t see how anyone who supports SAFC could be arguing Maja’s side here...
We don't know what Maja's side is, though. We don't know what the terms of the deal are. For all we know, the sticking point (if there is one) might be over something that no-one has considered and is a ridiculous thing for the club to be digging their heels in, over. We don't know, so I don't see how anyone can take any sides, other than their reacting to stuff going on inside their heads.

Doubtful. It will be close to what we get for him this window. In excess of 2m

It wont be anywhere near £2 million through compo scheme imho, he has played 20 odd league games, is a promising youngster for sure but thats it.

Here's how its worked out, no gaurantee of anything, particularly with his lack of experience.

I think lack of commitment could be leveled more accurately at the club. Especially if they cash in when keeping him to the summer would likely bring us promotion.

Can’t really criticise the club over much they’ve done this season but I’m not sure they’ve played this one right to be honest. Don’t think a deadline is totally necessary but if you have one why make it public?

but wont commercial income also rise..sponsorship contracts would have inbuilt increases for promoption? i dont know if that would be significant to the p&l though

Knowing what the club has gone through ye would hope hed think twice.especially how 'humble' he apparently is.wouldnt blame the fans if they got on his back.they entitled to if theyve paid their money.just like hes entitled to leave when his contract is up.
for me if he doesnt want to be first team playing week in week out in front of the best supporters in the land.in one of the best stadiums in the country..get rid
