His first touch, finishing, composure and technique are too good for this league already. If I were in a higher league and looking at him I'd be a bit concerned about his lack of pace and whether at the moment he'd be a bit of a luxury player. For me he'd be good at the top end of the table, not so much at the bottom.

Mack, you've hit the nail on the head mate. That's the sad thing about this whole sorry affair. This lad is so talented and yet still as so much to learn and develop.

Which would be sensible, gone are the days of throwing inflated wages and money at players and agents and rightly so.
The trouble we have is that the club is geared up to be a Premiership club, and the players we have are likely to believe they’re good enough to take us back to that position....in reality they’re not, Maja included, but they expect Sunderland to be paying top dollar still because of the stature of the club.

Asoro proved you can massively increase wages by moving, what that does to your footballing career takes a secondary priority over money for a lot of young lads. He’s likely to pick up £1m a year somewhere else, and only £250,000 a year here. He signs that 4 year contract with another club and he’s made for life used sensibly.

That's ridiculous though as Cattermoles wage was given in the Premier League. Not sure if you're aware but we're in League 1 now
Yes Cattermoles wages are ridiculous and as an agent I’d want my much better player to be on at least parity.

Think people are not realizing that what we get for him in this window will not be a lot different to what we get at tribunal in the summer. In fact we may even get more at tribunal if he scores another 15 in second half of season.

No point selling in this window at all.

How much do you think we are likely to get this window and how much in the summer?

Spot on this, you could see him scoring loads of goals in a team that create lots of chances

But as people keep pointing out if he moves abroad (which includes Scotland) then it negates the majority of the compensation rules and we’d likely end up with nothing.

Not all agents are idiots and will understand a league one player can't demand a Premier League wage.
Premier and championship teams are interested. Why stay at a club that won’t/can’t pay your worth? You would have to be an idiot.

If I was Maja’s agent I’d say that Maj should have at least the same wage as Cattermole if not bye bye.
I moved into a role a few years back where I was managing staff who earned a lot more than me because of stupid historical reasons, they were on inflated salaries because of mistakes made.

It’s common knowledge that the piss taking at the club has stopped, you can’t use the few contracts still laying about the club from Premiership players as a yardstick in our current position.

I’m sure he has been offered a comparable salary to other players of his worth from the recent crop of players.

We have to plan for the future regardless of this deadline. The deadline, unless it’s to get rid of him as soon as possible is meaningless.
My interpretation of the deadline is that if he does not sign today then the contract offer is formally withdrawn and will not be renegotiated in the summer. We then have a scenario where you wonder where his head space will be for remainder of the season, and the potential of a backlash from some affecting his game. If he does not sign today, the club have 3 weeks to get a replacement now, using the money saved on wages reserved for Majas contract, send Sinclair back and send a message that the club will no longer be dicked around. That said I really hope he signs a new contract.

Hopefully that won't effect his performances. Agent in his ear etc, could piss him off.

If he turned round tomorrow or any time before the summer and asked for the contract there’s no way the club would say no. Him signing a new contract immediately puts his transfer fee up (providing there’s no release clause) so they are hardly going to just let him leave for next to nothing because he didn’t sign by today. They would be total mugs to do that.

Cattermoles wages were given under a total different system. Totally irrelevant to what maja
