It suggests that it might be significant that there are railings between footpaths & a lot of the canals in Amsterdam, whereas there are very few canalside railings in Manchester.
Or a crazed serial killer.

Loads more railings in Amsterdam, but probably lots more canals aswell

There still seems too much in Manchester compared to other places

But a lot of the dam railings are stupid 8 inch high efforts. That’s how I fell in - went to sit on one while mortal thinking it was a lot higher and toppled over backwards. They don’t serve any real purpose.

Aren't these stats based on greater Manchester rather than just Manchester itself? So the deaths are actually over a much larger area than you'd think?

I also find it strange that I only ever hear about these serial killer theories on this forum. I've lived in Manchester for 20 years now and never once heard anyone discussing it.

So in Manchester it’s a serial killer, but in Durham it’s drunk, left wing students who are closing down the DLI museum and ruining the city for the locals.

Funny that.

Serial Killer at large in Manchester?

Generally all the deaths are within M60 I think

Oh christ Student Grant has been at the wine gums again. Spoiling for a fight already

I watched a programme about this last year iirc.

Some of the deaths were a bit strange. One lad rang his parents screaming on the phone that someone was chasing him, his body was found a few days later missing his phone and wallet. Another bloke was seen on cctv running near the canals as if he was being chased before his body was found. A few other victims were found with head injuries also.

My opinion is the majority have been drunken accidents and a few were killed but not by a serial killer.

There's hardly any railings in Amsterdam. Only on the bridges really.

Surely with that volume of ‘pushes’ one would have survived to tell the tale, the fact there isn’t suggests it’s pissed up incidents.
He could just be really good at pushing like. I'm nee expert but if he's really into it he could have a blackboard at home with force, trajectory, velocity, flight etc giving him a 100% record of hoying people to their doom.

What the fuck does he use, a giant party cannon? Shit that's actually a lot worse. Maybe it's a psychopathic clown.

In the main in Amsterdam either there are railings or the pathway is set back several feet from the canalside with trees & car parking next to the actual canal edge. In Manchester a lot of the canalside paths are narrow, right next to the canal edge with uneven or broken paving and largely unlit - plenty of stretches I would avoid at night sober never mind pissed.

And it’s a long way down in some places. 20 yards from where I went in there were boats moored and I would have fell 10 feet onto my head.

Bollocks. In the red light, specifically outside of Excalibur where it’s rammed with people they are 8 inches or so. I think their only purpose is to stop bikes wobbling over the edge.

Think its probably this, I live in central Manchester and there are long stretches by these canals with no railings at all and the footpath is 4 or 5 feet wide max. Plenty will be simply drunk and fallen in, wouldn't be surprised if a few were actually killed like but not a serial killer ;like you say. If it was a serial killer there would be at least a few who have survived to tell the tale imo.
