Australia V India

I haven’t read a quote about the “line” to be honest

Reading it back he says 'its a fine line' rather than 'close to line'. Nonetheless its the bit you quoted that's the issue - indicating that people would have it in for Australians because the celebrate in that manner. Its deflective bollocks, people have had it in for them because they developed a foul culture around their team that bordered on racism and culminating in the most blatant, shameful cheating you are likely to see. Langer should pipe down if they are serious about mending their tarnished reputation.

To me in that era, they were the best cricket side ever, even better than the West Indies great side imo.

Yes I agree - the Windies team are were absolutely fearsome but the Aussies had all angles covered.

The Aussies need to just play and keep their gobs shut for a couple of years to repair their tarnished reputation. Of course the opposition will occasionally try to wind them up.

Yes they had the right balance and the rare time they were in trouble Gilchrist got them out of it most times ,apart from the obvious exception in 2005.

How Aussie is this? Langer complaining about the over passionate nature of Kohli's celebrations saying they were 'close to the line' and he wondered what the reaction would have been if it had been his team. The point his team have consistently went so far over the line to the extent they ended up as a group trying to get away with sand papering the f***ing ball that they have no idea where the line is any more.

Lest we forget...

I would say they had more top draw batsmen quite a few who couldn't get a game but when you think back to the Windies in the late 70s early 80s Christ how many genuine quick bowlers did they have who never got much of a sniff. The likes of Wayne Daniel, Sylvester Clark and Patrick Patterson where as good as any other country had. The one thing they did not have that that Aussie side had was a quality spinner and the Aussies had one of the best.

West Indies had incredible depth in the bowling line up there is no doubt.

What makes Australia better imo, is they also changed the face of test cricket scoring at a quicker rate and constantly taking the game to the opposition and always looking to win.

The Adelaide test in 2006 the one where Colly scored a double ton, England made 550 in the first innings yet the Aussies won that test match!

That is a example of their outlook in that era.

Like I said before they also had Gilchrist who imo was a exceptional player, must have been soul destroying for the opposition the times they made early inroads into their batting line up, only for him to turn the game back in the Aussies favour in a hour or two!

The key to all of it was warne though

To have a leg spinner who can turn it miles but stil has the accuracy of an off spinner who holds an end, it’s unheard of

Means you can win on any surface

Day four about to start

Pujara again 51 not out so far

India lead by 180 now

Anywhere over 300 and this should be a cracking couple of days

Just to add to the conversation, aye we all want the Convicts to lose but remember that when they're on the back foot, everybody against them and underestimated is when they're at their most dangerous.

I think the players left out of the Aussie squad 88-2010 would be a massive threat for any test side of any era. Just the same as the Windies could field any number of quicks and still be formidable

They are going to be a handful in the Ashes, I still think we will win comfortably like, but they will have Warner and Smith back, plus their quicks, plus Lyon

If I was them I'd drop one of their rapid lads and play Siddle. In the 2015 ashes series, the bowlers were quick but they were a bit all over the place, on some of theEnglish pitches that pace is just not needed.

Going to be a great series and the return of Warner and Smith is going to make it better, going to be so much sand paper knocking about!

I’m not convinced warner will return. It will be poison if he plays

I can see smith getting booed, but warner will get vitriol and hatred. He has zero redeeming features

No doubt about that. I prefer this era as there is really no dominant side and everyone can beat anyone

Lyon getting spin but this just lines up for Ashwin in the Aussie second innings

I’m still convinced that Lyon bowls mostly top spinners and it beats the batsman for pace

176 for 3, lead by 191

Ten overs until a new ball

There's no way back for Warner mate. He's the drip drip drip poison for Australian cricket. An Ashes series is a massive NO go for him. Smith may even miss out though I suspect he will come back in. Starc, Hazelwood, Cummins and Lyon sound a hell of a lot easier than McGrath, Lee, Gillespie and Warne though.

Christ how good was that Aussie team.

Good review there by India. No bat at all on a claimed bat pad catch, given out

Rahane was the beneficiary this time

Lead 204

189 for 3

Rahane 22
Pujara 56

He is going to play like mate, Langer has met up with him loads of times, not sure there is much doubt.

It will be poison

I can’t see him playing. I can see him in the Odis but an ashes series, he is out of control

I’ve no wish to watch him at all and personally hope the current Aussie lads do enough for him never to return. I’ve no sympathy at all, it was a matter of time, his downfall and it was all self inflicted

Just because you don't like him doesn't mean he won't play marra. Langer has already said he wants him and Smith back

They'll play like, you don't leave out your best players.

Want a bet on it?

His downfall was not just welcomed by me, but most of the cricketing world including Australia. I’ve got rellys there, who provided me with media coverage and the general public’s opinion

The current team is playing and may do well, so we drop these lads, so the cancer can comeback?

Warner is tainted goods, will never be forgiven. An ashes series is bigger than him and should be played in a manner to suit

Aye up for it a bet marra 100% how much that he plays in the Ashes?

It was yeah, its died down a bit, and Langer will get his way.

Smith, yes. Warner would be a massive surprise. The bloke is like poison and the whole squad are starting to realise it. Smith is a top level player who took the laws and spirit of the game too far and if reformed would be welcomed back. Warner would unsettle everything Paine is trying to get the Aussies to be. Humble, hard but fair cricket playing within the spirit of the game. Don't forget the Aussies are still trying to win back a lot of public support at home after the tampering saga. Introducing Warner into an Ashes series will destroy all of that.

£5

This current team, scoring runs, are just going to step aside for him?

That takes the Aussies straight back to square one.
