Sacked vegan claims discrimination in landmark case

Probably right, but you'd still think a charity involved in animal welfare might make requests such as "please don't invest our money in companies that carry out testing on animals, a lot of our volunteers, staff and donors would have a problem with it". I think a lot of these vegans that can't wait to tell you that they're vegan are a set of twats, and I'd instantly dislike any that wear a hat with "vegan" on it, but I can sort of see this lad's point
And me, but I’d have more sympathy for him if he went for “normal” unfair dismissal because it sounds like he’d have a point - I’m not sure the info is confidential?

The likelihood they dismissed him because he’s a vegan is 99.9% bullshit.

Was away with work last week and the place hosting our event was a bit alternative. They provided the bait and told us it was vegan as we were queueing up (a couple of people buggered off to subway at this point). They told us it was a paneer curry which I was more than happy with and bloody gorgeous it was too. Anyway, a complete twat of a work colleague was kicking off with them as he didn't eat dairy.
You have to cater for everyone.

I love our christmas buffet, it's always the shittest options for vegans.

I think last year while we had chicken curry, shish kebabs amongst other glorious treats.

Vegans got a veggie burger and a packet of crisps with a pickled onion. :D

I reckon veganism has been adopted by the old Animal Rights movement, which if you remember was highly political, and much more like a terrorist group.
Sneaky bastards

Ah so your treating yourself at Christmas? Nice one

You've stopped eating cheese? What do you have on pizza?

Thinking about Christmas, I'll probably do something for the bairn so might join her. You have inspired me. Cheers.

Cannot remember last pizza I had. Greasy mess most of them.

But I so hope they did

What a board meeting that would've been

That's a very fair point. You wouldn't need to be a vegan to think they shouldn't have money invested in that way, nor to decide to tell people about it, so he didn't do it purely because he's vegan. Equally sounds like they'd have sacked anyone who dispersed the information, again, vegan or not. Unfair dismissal, possibly, but nothing to do with discrimination against vegans!

First time I even came across a vegan was back in 1999 when I was a graduate in the bank. One of the women was a vegan and she had about 15 dogs and used to come in covered in dog hair every day.

We had a team lunch one day and the bank ordered sandwiches in, and the only thing I can remember is that all we could get for her was a massive bowl of melon.

That was 20 year ago, things have changed. :)

Oh no!!! what have I done!??

Orh mate, pizza aswell..... f***ing lovely. I've recently taken to getting them from supermarkets, not frozen, on the counters where they make them fresh. about 6 quid for a large one, feeds me and our lass easily and it tastes bloody lush with minimum grease.

I just feel sorry for you mate, this friday me and the lads are off for our Christmas meal at a korean restaurant and all I can think about is how bloody lush their steak rolls are.

I'm not sure how a vegan can be discriminated against in the workplace.

Vegans if I'm not mistaken don't eat anything produced by animals aswell. So that's cheese, milk, butter, eggs...... I mean ya might as well just kill yourself

They shouldn't eat anything that animals have been involved in to create i.e. pollinate etc so there goes your avocados

Yes, Hitler was a veggie. Why is anyone'e guess

Disappointment

:lol::lol: Thanks for that.

Being sacked because you’re a vegan would be one way. :)

Haha. Good one.

But what can a firm do? Force feed black pudding?

I have seen some terrible stuff chucked out for the vegetarians over the years mind. Ah, here's a salad for you.

At an event I agree you need to cater for people coming and can ask in advance. But not in all cases and vegans or any other variant needs to choose where to eat. I once saw a one star TripAdvisor review of a pretty cheap all inclusive hotel in Cyprus because she wasn't catered for as a vegan. Why the fuck would you go all inclusive when you have a fussy diet?

I would have taken the sandwich filling out and gave her bread.

My sister tried vegetarianism and she got really ill, my brother tried full on veganism and he had to quit doing it aswell.

I don't think I cooked so much bacon, steak or had as many mcdonalds as I did the 3 months they did that.

The look on someones face when your both hungover and you tuck into a double cheeseburger whilst buying them a fruit bag  Even if they didn't want one.... they were getting one.

People throw stuff at them?

Regardless of whether veganism is a "philosophical belief" (which it clearly isn't unless we're going to start considering people on the Atkins diet to be members of some kind of religious sect) I can't see what his eating habits have got to do with his dismissal.

Why the fuck would you become a vegan.

I think I've got issues with them like  When me brother came out as gay I didn't give a shit. When he said he was going vegan I had a full on convo about how stupid he was.

The way people classify certain things nowadays I would not be surprised in the slightest if this became legit.
