The Last Kingdom

Just finished season 3, had me gripped all the way through, and although it’s not a true historical account I love the way it calls on parts of English history and the true characters in it, and has stirred my interest in it a lot.

I find myself looking at our country differently and imagining those times gone by, drove past holy island and bamburgh yesterday and the thought of the first Viking invasions happening there over 1000 years ago has me wanting to know much more.

I'm going to watch season 3 ower the holidays, enjoyed the first 2. I always think the same when I drive past St Peter's at Roker, imagine what the monks thought when they saw the norsemen rowing up the wear...

Really enjoyed it, despite the ending of the last episode seeming massively rushed.

Just binge watched all of this over a couple of weeks. Watched the pilot and thought it looked cheap as fuck . Nearly sacked it off. So pleased I didn't. It's absolutely brilliant. Just got better and better all the time. So many likeable characters and so many you love to hate aswell.

You might want to read the books. Cornwell doesn't half write funny/likeable characters as well as some real bastards (usually priests in this series ).
