Whatever you think of QUEEN

I have seen it twice now, both times the live aid segment gave me goose bumps, no other film has ever done that to me, would love to see it again, not gannin to the pics tho, will wait till blu ray comes out, top movie
Seen it twice too. Second time on the big big screen at vue.

Think there maybe one final visit as you do see stuff you miss the first time.

Agree the live aid scene is amazing.

No chance. The critic bores hated it.
There has been increasing pressure on the oscars in the last 10 years to acknowledge the industry’s sales figures with regards nominations... mainly for the rise in the marvel/dc type films being overlooked, this film may benefit.

That's the opposite of what the Oscars are for. Awards are to reward films that didn't necessarily make money but give the industry credibility. Oscar recognition can give smaller films commercial success. Marvel films don't need any of that

probably the wrong thread, but i think the take was that the oscars were meant to be just about good films regardless - and possibly some films were discounted because of their success even if they were good films - perhaps that's how you end up with a fish f***ing film winning the best movie oscar this year.

It's become a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Financial success and quality are often mutually exclusive, e.g. Michael Bay. If it's only about money a lot more shit and a lot less interesting stuff gets made. The downside is a lot of worthy shite gets overpraised, but I don't think any of the big blockbusters from last year deserved Best Picture
