England in Sri Lanka Red Ball

Ok. The ball breaks from the leg but he's not what we'd understand as a 'leggie'. Thought it was a reasonable post tbh.

Sorry mate, wasn't meant to read like I was having a pop. Just thought it a bit contradictory - they are different, and you explained why yourself perfectly. Especially as in the context of the debate, the differences - control v variation - on these pitches are important.

Anyway, sorry it came across a bit dickish. I fully apologise.

Sounds as though Denly's performance in the warm up game has ruled him out of selection

Looks like:
Jennings, Burns, Root, Ali, Stokes, Buttler, Foakes (w), Curran, Rashid, Anderson, Leach

With Bairstow coming back in for 2nd test.
Some talk that Broad might still play

Weird team on a number of levels.

Why not bring Pope in and let Buttler have the gloves for a game?

Why is Curran in ahead of Broad - the lad can carry a willow, we know that. But is he really one of our top two seamers?

Who bats at three? Ali?

And why the fuck is Jennings still here!!!!

That team is all wrong. Denly, Pope and Broad (is he injured)? in for Jennings, Foakes and Curran. As it will turn square, you need as many spinners as possible. If it was a green top in England, you would want batsmen who can bowl a bit of seam ahead of those who can't when the candidates have little to choose from in terms of batting ability (Jennings/Denly). We make the same mistake time and time again in Asia/UAE.

Jennings is a better player than Denly like.

Burns. Jennings. Stokes. Root. Ali. Buttler. Woakes. Curran. Rashid. Anderson. Leach
Is who I'd pick, would not be shocked if they pick broad and foakes and leave out leach/rashid

Do I stay up until 4am tonight to watch the inevitable England batting collapse?

working nights, so will get to see this, I wouldn't bother mate

the squad is a batsman light, we will have 3 seamers....3 seamers! not playing

Also only need Leach and Ali on a turning pitch

There is no way denly should be in this team

Cannot see any play tomorrow looking at the weather forecast and the ground is already flooded

Argh so annoying wanted to watch this

Canny shan on Rash that like. He's on the best form of his career.

Do I get up at 4.30 to watch the first session? 5.30?

To be out at half 7 as per anyway.

Sky Q and radio silence was made for this situation mate ;)
