Happy Trafalgar Day

Here Nelson Fell.

And won 40 grand in compensation due to an unmarked trip hazard.

Trafalgar Day should be a Bank Holiday to commemorate the greatest naval victory and commander in our history.

....and another one for Wellington, might as well fill our boots.

Just think about it Wellington Day, we could have Wellie hoying competitions all over the country, then back to the pub for a jar or three.

Bank Holidays on the nearest Monday to the 18th of June for Wellington and Waterloo, and nearest Monday to 21st of October for Nelson and Trafalgar. Sounds good to me, I believe we are short of national holidays compared to most other countries. But I fear in the political climate of today they may not be too popular.

And on Nelson (Trafalgar) day we get pissed and put each other in full nelsons?

I’d go for a Wellington Day, with a traditional meal of beef wellington though. I’m not into petitions but I think one should be started for this.

Too true it may be seen as far too British, by some. I'm sure there would be some group of specimens who would be offended by it, and try to get it stopped. We can only celebrate in our own little ways. Like sitting in the home supporters end, when you're the away team and score. Private pride!

Must be a lot of people celebrating it in Pompey, my local Mozzas has ran out of almost every brand of dark/gold rum except their own brand stuff. Managed to get a bottle of Sailor Jerry.

My Trafalgar fact which impresses absolutely nee one is that all three belligerent navies had a ship called Neptune fighting in it.

And Nelson wasn't the captain of HMS Victory.

Surely an Admiral is higher than a Captain.
If he wasn’t back then he certainly is now.
