If this team had been assembled by any other manager they would calling for his head.

And rightly so. But because it's rafa who for some unknown reason can't do no wrong they aren't.

Fact.

They have backed themselves into a corner to support Rafa and it will kill them to admit they were wrong.

They now have five games to save their season. The absolute minimum they need is 3 wins.

Reminds me of David Moyes more and more. Can defend in numbers and make it difficult for top sides to score but as soon as they play sides around them/below them where they are actually expected to do more gan just suffocate teams defensively they crumble.

I always think it’s quite easy to look organised defensively when defending in high numbers playing the odd long ball counter attack but to find balance is what sets good managers apart. Both him and Moyes are hopeless at it.

That's a very good point, even down to the excuses the pundits continually make for them.

I noticed, last night, the BBC seem to have had a word with Shearer.

He's stopped with the regular pie charts, spending graphics and attacks on Ashley.

He's now simply lambasting the players Benitez brought in although he still can't bring himself to criticise Benitez.

He daren't, he's backed himself into the same corner as the supporters.

There’s a decent thread on twitter from Mark Douglass saying the mags should be beating Brighton because they have better players. 60 replies going crackers at him because their net spend is lower than Brighton’s so there’s no way he can say they should beat them.

Might as well just cancel games and decide the final league positions on net spend only.

They’ve also spent all season saying these are the games they will win :lol::lol:

Shearer spent a section of the show a few weeks ago lambasting Mourinho for criticizing his players in the media. He was saying no player will want to play for him because of it and it’s all his own fault.

Benitez has been doing that for years and he loves him. I don’t think Shearer is a bad pundit usually (bar the net spend bollocks and that) tbh but he’s made a complete fool of himself with that.

I have said it a few times on different threads but why do they expect a manager who is most likely leaving in the summer to get a boat load of money to spend when the players he's buying might not be what an incoming boss wants?
It also makes them a less attractive option to tempting a good manager in if whatever budget he has has been blown, and if Rafa's recent purchases are anything to go by they will be shite!

The team he has created is shit.

It's beyond pathetic the way they go on. Never known a set of fans use this as a reason. Funny when they had their 'glory days' under Keegan it was never mentioned once that they were only doing well as they spent a shit load.

And for the record you dumb thick mag twats. Rafa has spent a shit load as mentioned in another thread.

However, rafa has pissed it up the wall on shite.

I’m amazed they don’t call him out more on his decision to replace Mitrovic and Gayle with Rondon and Muto.
I called a mag out on this last night.
The silly bastard claimed it was probably not Benitez's decision to sell them !
By inference it probably wasn't his decision to buy the replacement donkeys

It should be pointed out that during the ‘glory days’ they won fuck all.

Hence the quotes. Always remember them saying when they were beating us that it didn't count as they had spent a fortune and we hadn't spent anything. Until both teams were on a exactly the same finance it didn't count.

They were always so sporting, with us and the rest of the league. Top set of lad and lasses.
