Durham mags.......

Grew up in Spennymoor area and in our school I remember it as being 49% Sunderland , 49% Newcastle, 1% Boro and 1% miscellaneous.

That was before the Keegan years.

Might be wrong but that's how I remember it. Particular areas seemed more Mag like Byers Green village, whereas Kirk Merrington village  was more Sunderland.

No there hasn't . Was minimal pre 92

I moved to Durham in 1994 the couple next door had a kid at primary he even wore a SAFC goalkeepers shirt, I remember commenting on it at the time. In two years him and his dad were fully fledged armchair nufc fans. The father even did the accent thing I noticed he was sounding more Tyneside than when we first moved in. :)

Seaham is 25% mag.

chester le street is 80% mag.

overall, more mags in Durham than SAFC fans.
Chester isn't 80% mag.
I'll give you 60 - 40 in favour of the skunks but in all probability it's nearer 50-50.

They sound like when a stand up comedian does an impersonation of a Friday night Geordie ...

... totally exaggerated and obviously fake

I'm sure all Durham mags are quite happy with their lot. As I'm sure are all the Geordies who support Sunderland. The idea that you can accept supporters from other parts of the world supporting Sunderland but can't accept those from Durham supporting Newcastle smacks if jealousy and bitterness. There's always been a big mag following there. Always will be.

Aye, since 1992.

Peter 123 is 18 and clueless if he believes that bollocks

Don’t get me started on this. A lad I went to school with (from peterlee) gives me shit about stuff like “weez keez” and “Cheezy Chips and blue pop” we lived in the same f***ing street until we were 15 ffs
Now he’s claiming he “lovz tha toon”

It is incredible that mags think our accent is strange yet there's is the queens english.
Me and @Kid Galahad have just come back from a week in Nerja where 6 jawdee lasses were on same complex. You've heard nowt like it man - and No, there's no pics ya pervs

Aye but it’s clear as day it’s now a positive term for us as a group of people. Language is not

I live in Newcastle now and if anyone asks me, I’m proudly a Mackem.

I work directly with three mags. One from Penshaw, one from Washy and the other is Welsh.

All canny lads until they get on the topic of football and more than one of them is around. Absolutely fine and reasonable when it’s just one of them talking about football.

Are there any mackem mags? This would not happen would it
