He doesn't run it in a reckless manner. Your supporters seem to want him to, but he is running you as a successful business.
Admittedly not every supporters dream, but it could be a lot worse.

Staggered at the suggestion that he is running it as a 'successful business' when he is staring at a third significant shortfall in revenue that can be sizeably attributed to his own decision making.

But should a team finishing 10th months before look as lacking as yours presently does? As has been said, Benitez is setting you up to not get hammered, its full Moyesesque self-preservation and he knows if you just fall a bit short in games, Ashley will take the brunt, not him. Imo anyway.

A bit of it is down to the manager who will have overseen two of the three though. ;)

You can proportion a lot more blame to Benitez should we be relegated this season than you can the last time tbf. We've been over 2016's relegation numerous times though, lets not go over it again.

Think I said the other day that Benitez's signings look to be worse the further you get up the pitch but the higher up you go on the pitch the more (usually) you have to pay as a premium which is something we don't do.

He will get a portion of the blame should we be relegated as the blame can't be mutually exclusive to either Ashley or Benitez. Looking objectively there seems to be a widening sentiment in the media that Benitez isn't getting dealt a poor hand as far as support goes and I know it's a dirty word on here but they do use net spend as evidence for that lack of support.

The opening fixtures that we have been given haven't been kind but it's concerning for me especially that in the three games that we were expected to compete more in we haven't scored a single goal.

That's your mangers fault, not Ashley's.
Yes, you will note that I have agreed completely. Our forward partnership is weak. To score a goal we really need the chance to be from around 6 yards or so, neither Perez or Joselu seem to have the strength to kick a ball any further distance

We were exactly the same under Moyes. Normally done OK (as in either drew or didn't get humped because we parked the bus) v sides we weren't expected to win but when we played sides we should have got something from we looked terrible bar the odd one.

I think it's pretty easy to look 'solid' when the sides tactics are to have everyone behind the ball with a deep line and the odd burst on the counter with a couple of players. Total different game where you need to find balance.

The only difference between Moyes and Benitez is that at least all the players don't hate Benitez, although after 2 years of constantly complaining to the media that they are shit, they don't seem to be playing for him this year like last.

Mr Aiston is an old friend of mine. Bit random, but true.

In the last 5 years newcastle have spent £260m compared to Bournemouth's £160m - in the last 3 it's £128m compared to £113m. But the answer is definitely to do with being allowed to spend.
The pair of them finished on the same number of points with the mags finishing about last season to be fair, and the mags have had a much tougher start than Bournemouth.
