Vaux Site - Building Work Stops

Contracts out for tender and work actually starting are different kettles of fish.
Let's hope the bids come in cheap or it could get pricey if the council has to take up the shortfall, bearing in mind carillon were pricing low a lot of the time to get contracts.

Otherwise its good news at least getting the ball rolling

As for the bet it was 50 quid or something wasn't it? And I'm sure there was more than 1?

Good news there's progress and it's going out to tender quite quickly.
Good to see.......make it vaux!
It's amazing the scepticism outside of Sunderland about this site....so many wanting it to fail.
That needs to be the motivation to make it succeed.

I have also heard from sources that things are looking a lot more optimistic for work to restart now.

It seems the way the council set up Siglion actually has ensured the project didn’t collapse altogether with Carillion’s demise.

Got the money upfront from Carillion didn’t they?

By all means have a go at the Cooncil when things arent right. But as an outsider looking in I think Sunderland Council is doing a good job. A lot of good regeneration work taking place.

Just out of interest. Does anyone know if the hotel is still happening on edge of keel Sq. We were told it'd start work in spring and then a delay with contractors. Now we're in autumn and still no bulldozers. Have they gotten cold feet and pulled out?
