Cant help feeling with him costing 13 million and Papy 7 million thats 20 million pissed against the wall.

If it all works out and any future club has to pay the full whack of his transfer fee then that signals to any other club Sunderland are no longer a soft touch, can only be a good thing. It could put alot of other clubs off taking him and he will have a very long holiday, hope he's been savvy with his earnings, going to need them.

Maybe GRUMPY OLD MAN could confirm but now that Dilly and Dong have gone and sacked does that mean being we are free of their wages, we can sign players in January without breaching financial fair play ?

I seem to remember some report going around that he wanted both yedlin and m'vila back.

I doubt he would want Yedlin, he didn't pick him over Jones for a while then when he did start picking him he tried to replaced him in January with Debuchy then Eboue.

If he did he never moved for them, though the club was probably reluctant to pay for M'vila given his contract situation anyway. Sakho was strongly linked but apart from the Zog on trial we had Santon for a medical which he failed IIRC and Santon would have cost more than Yedlin who was still available at that point.

Nor they might take us to court.....s

Who would want a player that hasn't played for 9 months, couldn't even make the bench at Watford and withdraws his labour when things don't suit?
Him and his agent are idiots!

Hope that the football world supports Sunderland and makes these two a test case to redress the balance of power .

I hope the club's response to this can set wider precedents in football. The players are not gods. If you breach the terms of your contract then you are liable to be sacked, just like any other job, ever. There is this culture that footballers are somehow above ordinary standards, as if clubs must be forever submissive to be graced by their presence.

isn't it fantastic to have owners with balls, and who grab the bull by the horns !
they MUST have taken legal advice on this (they are FAR too shrewd not tho have !) and I hope we can sue them for compensation

FIFA regs state that the next club he signs for will be deemed to have induced his breach of contract. and will have to pay compensation. It would be nice to think it would be set at the amount agreed with Torino before his agent blew it out of the water.

If UEFA/FIFA apply their own regualtions, he's about to cop a 4 month ban (with a possible extension to 6 months if the circumstances are deemed aggravated) for unjustified breach on contract. In any even, as he was on the books when the window closed, he can't sign for anyone until January anyway.

Was it you that mentioned something about any club taking him on being jointly responsible for any compensation / costs we are awarded?
