Durham vs Sussex - T20 1/4 Final

The massive queues for everything, daft kids shouting to get the cameraman’s attention, people who didn’t have a clue about cricket and the f***ing floss/kiss cam! This isn’t baseball! Roll on Championship and the true fans.

I'm not a fan of T20 and have seen more matches this season (3) than I have in the last 10 years but we've punched above our weight to be fair and the big difference tonight was the absence of Tahir.

Mind you I can't wait to get back to Championship cricket on Wednesday and not be surrounded by dicks who are up every five minutes going to the bar.

I wouldn't want to knock anyone who paid to watch that crap tonight mate. Durham needs the beer monsters just as much as it needs the anoraks.

T20 success is a necessary evil if that doesn't sound too daft. We probably turned over 100k+ in this campaign with people turning up who wouldn't bother otherwise.

With hindsight the beer monsters probably had the right idea as one along from me must have spent at least an hour queuing on his numerous visits to the bar and therefore missed all the...erm..entertainment on the pitch.:D
 
Tonight will have boosted the coffers a bit plus sky money

I hope we get an overseas who can play all formats and a full season.
 
Not a T20 hater at all. I enjoy it. But the gimmicks like the kiss/floss cam and shite music (and yes Sweet Caroline and Hey f***ing Jude are included in that) during play are truly embarrassing
 
My observations tonight

1) my boy 6 year old went to first game got bored part way through but loved it and wants to go back again. ) ( and annoyingly to some he screamed and shouted sometimes more about the fire to be fair ) If he is only one still, then it is still a positive but there will be lots more.
2) spinners decided game for me and abscence of Tahir is huge he was superb early doors
3) why won’t fecb let stokes bowl, yet he can run between wickets and dive and slide in outfield. Mental

Our two biggest T20 games in history have had stokes only able to bat in both.

The final and tonight. To be fair, stokes did look to be limping from time to time tonight
 
Disappointing result tonight. But if someone had said to me in April, Durham will come second in the North Group but be knocked out in the Quarter Final I would have laughed in their face. To me it means we have made progress this season. Hopefully signing Lees and Bancroft will make 2019 an even better season and a return to Division 1 a real possibility.
