Durham vs Sussex - T20 1/4 Final

Would it not be better for them to schedule the competitions so they don't clash? Or is that not possible?
That is the great conundrum that the FTECB are trying to square from the year 2020 onwards.

In some regions of the world they would gladly do away with tests to accommodate more T20.

Then we have the fifty over games and the championship.

Having watched the T20 in the windies the crowds are very low, so that's basically being atelevision advertisement run comp and would be nothing without Gayle, Sammy, Pollard and the likes.

It's what the FTECB want to set up over here with 8 franchises, which would shut out Durham from playing but they can cherry pick our better players to play for the franchises in Yorkshire and Lancashire

Very disappointing after a rocket start from the moment Stokesplayed that daft sweep shot the game quickly drifted away .The teams inability to play spin over quite a few years is blatantly obvious
Other teams can see off spinners especially ours and just play it simple and knock it around
We go into panic mode every time and lose both momentum and wickets
140 was never nearly enough and Sussex won at a canter

I was quite confident at the interval. After watching us bat against their spinners I thought it must be turning 90 degrees the way we couldn't rotate them for 6 an over. Sadly I think it says more about the quality of our middle order.
Just wait till you see stokes lbw decision

Clearly the ball pitched outside leg. Not even close

Big turning point

Think I'll be deleting the match off the Tivo box before watching it mate.
First three overs are excellent, then comes the lbw decision. Got to see that.

It may have made no difference but Sussex were struggling up to that point

Botham is there

Bumble on skysports news tipped Durham, he is now tipping Sussex as they played better football in the warm up.

Crowd expected of 8000 according to nick knight.

12 for 0 off 1

Clark 8, stokes 1

Said last night @Thebumble ball will fly. Top edge four first ball off mills

Fifth ball off mills it goes flying off stokes edge for four

26 for 0 off 2

Clark 12, Stokes 10
Guess I was right! All went to pot after Stokes got out.

Came up short against a decent Sussex team tonight. It's disappointing, but we've done bloody well in the T20 this season, considering the pessimism with which we started the competition.

Tied in knots by spin and archer and mills bowling 70 mph

I said 160 last night and it would have been game on but we never looked like getting there and to be honest, getting to 140 was an achievement at the end.

Never mind, Safc will win tomorrow and all will be well

Sussex were struggling until they took the pace off the ball.

I'm not a fan of T20 and have seen more matches this season (3) than I have in the last 10 years but we've punched above our weight to be fair and the big difference tonight was the absence of Tahir.

Mind you I can't wait to get back to Championship cricket on Wednesday and not be surrounded by dicks who are up every five minutes going to the bar.

Spot on. Always pace off and Durham have done this all season at home. Big boundaries aided that.

I can't see Sussex winning the comp though. I feel Lancashire are on a roll and will do it

General point but I don't understand Durham's ground. It's not small enough to clip the bat and go for 6 and it's not big enough to hit the ball into the outfield and run for two. Are we just poor at placing the ball against spin or is our pitch the worst size possible.

As someone who can mainly only make T20 cricket due to work I accept I can’t make as much championship cricket as I’d love to, but Christ tonight was painful with the queues and idiots sat around

Somerset or Notts. I hope anyway as I can only see them stopping that lot. Can see their spin and the others' inadequacies against it doing it for them unfortunately. What a shite shite shite shite shite season. Especially when they stay up and we go down.

Gale out

We were poor tonight on rotating the strike during the Briggs/beer spell

That won Sussex the game. Just one of those things as we had done well up to this point v spin and dibbly dobbly

Piss poor in every department
