Ryanair...

People will always complain about Ryanair and it will always be controversial but it will always remain Europe’s most popular airline for the fact it is hands down the cheapest.

For that I’ve come to appreciate them even if choosing them is a groan. I plan any European trips I have to use them for around their policies to avoid the hidden fees and inconveniences (i.e just one small bag)

Prices are also commendable. got Dublin the other week for around £13 a way. The alternatives from Ponteland would be unnecessary transfers with BA and Lingus for 6x the price.

Ryanair essentially forces regional competitors to keep their price down, encourages more budget airline models and achieves a great deal for travel and tourism in Europe.

Once you weave past the annoying things it becomes a very effective service. Strikes of course are a bit different and I can see how they have abused legal loopholes to avoid compensation where they can, but they will survive this.

Have you read the article

From November, passengers will still be allowed to take one "small personal bag" into the cabin, as long as it will fit under the seat in front.
That's like a handbag, or a very small bag. Not a "standard" cabin bag.
You could take those before too.

You could always choose not to fly with them.
I very rarely do. Seems they're going out of their way to shoot themselves in the foot on this one though - policy change after policy change with no foresight into the repercussions of their actions.

Nah mate, you had to pay to take it on.

I always just take a backpack for a few days anyway and i've had no bother getting it on.

Yeah this, officially a traditional backpack is too big under the current dimensions, but last three times i've flown with them, they have only been bothered about putting the cases in the hold.

Aye, anything with wheels they tend to take off you.

Mind you, my mate flew to Gdansk with us and got his tagged (was a case), just ripped it off between getting his ticket scanned and the plane. The lasses on the plane aren't arsed.

Yeah I don't think they really give a shit tbh.

Mind, taking a backpack for a few days away is much better for me, hate wheeling a suitcase round a city.

No it’s not. A bagpack suffices.

Yep,flew to the UK with the boy last week all we had was a standard backpack with our gear in - got on no bother. Currently in Majorca and cases went in the hold, backpack with toys and tablets for the kids in the cabin no issues

I honestly think people just like to twist - nowt wrong with Ryanair and the service/vfm in my eyes

O Leary being a cock is part of their business model.

Works on any publicity is good publicity

I've been known to dabble in this as well. Never had a problem yet.

If you’re that bothered and the flights are cheap enough just pay the £6 or whatever it is for priority boarding and take your bags in the cabin.
I'm flying to Reus (going to Salou) in September. 2 adults and 2 kids, 2 x 20kg bag, priority & 2 cabin bags each and reserved seats for €655. It was £839 for the 4 of us to fly to Barcelona with Aer Lingus. Also the flight times with Ryanair were better.

Jet2's fleet is a f***ing mess like. I hate flying with them. The last one we were on was about 30 years old and looked like it had been painted with gloss around the doors.
Been on these a few times from Leeds/Bradford and the aircraft were fine, in fact, the last time we flew, it was a brand new aircraft with not a scratch on it. Mind, that music that they play all the time is very annoying.

take a rucksack, goes under the seat fine. if you fly with a scratter airline, you get scratter service. nothing new. the only thing that annoys me is that they have started a race to the bottom. other airlines will follow suit shortly.
