Hales and Stokes

Surely media outlets should only be reporting on what has been said in court and not claiming "definites" that exist only as accusations or one side of a story.

There surely must be links to this great media smear led by BBC and ITV.

Don't know about ITV or newspapers as I don't read them, but throughout the trial the headlines on the BBC news page were all negatively slanted against Stokes. Basically their headlines were all based on comments from the prosecution lawyer or the doorman, which were extremely negative toward Stokes. No headlines were based on comments from Stokes's team. That doesn't constitute a fair and balanced media perspective as far I'm concerned.

FWIW I'm gobsmacked both he and Ali were found not guilty.

You’re right obviously but this case shouldn’t have gone to court ,

this type of thing happens in Sunderland and Newcastle numerous times every Saturday night ,
I assume it’s the same all over the country,
I say Sunderland and Newcastle because I’ve worked them in the past

Again, I’m no expert but in the case of most average Joe Publics, would the offenders not just be banged to rights and advised to accept charges at magistrates court due to not having the financial resources to defend themselves further?

Was there actually any positive slant towards stokes available to use during the trial?

Ban him if they must for next three Tests at home where we don't need him. Bring him back for the winter
He's been found not guilty. If the ECB ban him now (not forgetting his suspension in the winter) it would be completely farcical. He wasn't breaking curfew, he was allowed out for a few drink then got into a scuffle with a couple of knobheads. The court of the land says he hasn't done anything wrong.

Watch them ban him like the f***ing stiffs they are

Glad he’s got away with it for the sake of English cricket, still not the brightest idea to be out lamping people in public when as high profile as he is but hopefully he can learn from it, move on and continue being a star for Durham/England.

Just hope the ECB don’t make try to make themselves look big and important by punishing him further now he’s been found not guilty and already missed the ashes etc.

Does seem daft that it’s taken this love to prove him not guilty mind, if the CPS had only checked on here last September they would know that Stokes was nice to Muchalls no 1 fan’s wife once a few years ago and so could never be guilty! Would have saved loads of time and tax payers money!

still have not watched the video or followed much of the trial but delighted he has been found not guilty. Hopefully he will learn from this and chuck the "big nights out" with the boys because there will always be a numpty looking to make a name for himself and i don't think its in Stokeys maori nature to back down to anyone.

Conveniently no headline about the bouncer who was telling fibs or about the 2 lads waving metal poles/bottles about

I agree with you on this. Media reporting if trial has been with a clear slant.

I am amazed that he's not guilty mind. The CPS have bungled it, charging him with the wrong offence perhaps. I don't know - a lot of people saying that Stokes is getting special treatment even coming to court. Well, yes, to a point - but I'm not sure I'd have got away with it if I'd smashed somenodies eye socket in front of CCTV and an off-duty policeman...

His barristers are obviously top notch.
