I think it's the idea that in that situation he decided to have a quick chat with god which is open to ridicule like.

Given that seems the basis of his entire defence, why are they not being called? Especially as Stokes has several times stated he can’t remember what the specific language was?

Yes its true. I don't have concrete reasons why but assume that the defense and prosecution for that matter saw the statements of the two gay blokes and felt that it wouldn't benefit them having them on the stand.

Sorry I have speculated.

Muttering to the heavens isn't unusual and it only shows a measure of exasperation and is understandable but telling the Court that you were talking to God smacks of a being a bit cheeky, he wants to watch out he doesn't talk himself into more trouble.

We’ve only read the transcript however, the tone isn’t easy to gauge. It could just be him being overly literal.

Not sure what God said back to him but not sure he’ll be getting a job with the Citizens Advice Bureau any time soon
 
This Ali bloke is a bit odd. He's just said in court his recollection of events that night is "incomplete because I suffered a significant head injury" then his next two statements are clear precise recollections of the night. Very odd

To be fair, Stokes has done the same. He can’t remember what was said. Apart from when he can. That’ll be the pints, vodkas and jaegerbombs
 
It’s hard to see how this entire thing could have gone any worse for Stokes unfortunately. Can’t see anything but a guilty. As an England fan I have to hope for nothing worse than a fine and/or suspended sentence. Then whatever the dorks at the ECB deem fit as a punishment. Goes without saying I hope I’m wrong but I feel he’s not covering himself in glory and fear the worst.
 
Ali says he does not recall going towards Alex Hales with a bottle but accepts that's what the footage shows. He also accepts it looks like he struck Barry with it. He does not believe that is the moment Stokes got involved though #BenStokes

Back in the day, my PE teacher's father was Botham's solicitor when he was up on similar charges. Reckoned there was no chance of Botham getting off, all the evidence was against him.

Likewise, the world and his dog was shown the footage of Gerrard lamping that bloke in a bar...................

Let’s hope lightning strikes twice then, I fear times are different now and the outcome may well be too, however.
