MP takes on Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley over his 'exploitation' of the club

She's right to the extent that clubs need protections from unscrupulous owners
Why ?

Football is a business. And in that business, Mike Ashley bought a debt-laden middling company and turned it around to become more self-sustaining.

To compete at the level the Geordie Nayshun want Newcastle to be at, you need the resources of a monopoly gas supplier for a continent, or an oil-rich nation state. That is the problem, not Rafa's transfer budget.

Short bankrolled you for years though the money was just spent very badly, it was only the last two years or so he stopped spending which is when you all turned on him. He at least had ambition and wanted you to do well, Ashley has never had that, imagine how much you would have hated Short if he had been doing it for ten years like Ashley has. We’ve been relegated twice in ten years under him, let’s be honest a well run Newcastle wouldn’t be getting relegated from the premier league.
I never really had much issue in how much short spent it’s how he spent it and who he put in charge that pissed me of and many others. Football is a sport mate you can be as well run as you like and still get relegated, Newcastle just like us have no Devine right to be a top flight side, it’s a sport after all. Short failed in getting us back up infact we dropped again something Ashley has never failed on, just imagine if yous dropped again how much stick Ashley would get, infact the media barely got into short at all yet you lot have had f***ing front page headlines and now and mp a f***ing member of Parliament bring him up for not spend millions and millions on football players.

I was seeking clarity over what you want.

Why though? You already have all of your answers as mentioned in your opening questions.

You’ve already decided we universally want him to spend money out of ‘his own pocket’ ( ) and now you’ve oddly suggested that he should give us free football tops. Not sure where you’ve got that from?

This is all redundant really as we’ll enter the ‘seething’ or ‘mag on a messageboard’ territory soon anyway. Not necessarily by you but by other users.

Why shouldn't it go all the way to parliament? They get massive crowds, they have "Rafa" they have their own nation FFS. Ashley won't put his hand in his pocket and he's only using Nufc to promote Sports Direct. It's a disgrace that they're being outspent by the London clubs, especially the ones with smaller crowds. Good Luck to her that's what I say

Spot on.

The 10th place finish is now being conveniently forgotten.

No he hasn’t, particularly including this summers business so far.

Including the wages paid out he has. You've been left with a squad of players Benitez doesn't want and can't shift because of the wages you were paying in the championship. Didn't you lose an extraordinary amount of money in your championship season?

Checked that

Tell me again how Benitez hasn't had money to spend over and above what came in

You know what that wage increase is, right?

Reading the comments from Graham Bailey's tweet and I'm actually gobsmacked.

Surely there's some genuine mag fans must be embarrassed to be linked with this sort of shite? Or are they so infatuated with Rafa that they are joining the delusion?

Also, I don't think this will sit well with fans of clubs like Blackpool, Charlton etc. who have had owners that have destroyed the clubs.

Precious, entitled bellends; the mags. Hopefully this fiasco will show other football fans exactly what they're like

Bkackpool supporters petitioned parliament to get Karl Oyston to resign but it was rejected.

Not sure about Charlton's protests

She reckons she’s representing the views of her constituency. What about Sunderland fans living in Newcastle, what about fans of any other club living in Newcastle. I’m pretty sure she isn’t representing them. I hope someone takes her to task over that

Why don't you tweet her and ask her? I'm sure she'd be receptive as it would make her look good to be fighting the cause and all that

Obviously, you’ve previously suggested I think we should be 17th so you’ve answered your own question really.
You didn't want to answer because your words suggest you think you should be higher than 10th. What you's can't accept is that Newcastle are just part of the PL ballast making up the numbers like all the other clubs.

Even by the deranged standards of that lot up the road, this is hilarious. As far as I can see, the problem that they have is that Ashley is not being unscrupulous, but is actually running the club in a sustainable manner. Unscrupulous is behaving like the Oystons.
To be slightly fair Newcastle are a significantly bigger club than Blackpool. This story does sum up their self-pitying, extremely romantic, self-centered egotistical woe is me attitude. Complete whoppers who think they're entitled to be better than they are. It's why everyone laughs at them or hates them.
