Hi, alloa fan here, Jack took over a part time Alloa side in the Scottish Championship around December time. The outgoing manager flooded the team with effectively Scottish L1/2 players. They were dead and buried in effect by the time he took control. He brought in a couple of players in January transfer window, sorted out the tactical side of things and it improved till the end of the season. We went from being easily beating to being hard to beat in games. We managed to beat Hibs and draw with Rangers home and away. Might not seem a big deal for Sunderland fans, but it was a big achievement for a part time side.He took over a team that was at it's lowest ebb - played 16, won 1 drew 2 and lost 10, averaging 0.5 points per game and losing 81% of their games. He was in charge for the remaining 20 of the season - won 3 drew 7 lost 10 averaging 0.8 points per game, losing 50%. I'd say that was a decent effort to turn them around. The following season he led them on a 10 game winning run and left them when they were second.
They all go the same wayAnother one on ignore![]()
This forum is riddled with the mag virus like.the amount of subs-benchers, goalkeepers and full-backs on this thread/board who are full of negativity about this appointment is amazing i tell yer........![]()
Aye...lets just get an inexperienced manager in the English game, from one of the shittest clubs, from one of the shittest leagues in Europe.
Christ we are better off appointing Lennon.
This, perfect time to make this type of appointment. All for it. Need youth, new ideas, a no nonsense approach, keenness to play youth and most of all someone who signing on for the long term project that SAFC is.

Started the next season great, reached the 1/4 of the Scottish league cup, beating 2 SPL sides on route. Lost 2-0 to Celtic in Glasgow. It was 0-0 till 85mins. Unfortunately just couldn't make extra time against full strength Celtic side.
Jack Ross will do well, he's a smart manager. He actually narrowed the park at Alloa to prevent the full time sides from getting the ball wide and stretching his part time side. It was narrowed to a crazy level. You should Google "Alloa narrow pitch" Mark Warburton was going nuts about it. He's a smart intelligent manager.
This ^ the fuckers are seething and we're in league 1 ffs but they're not obsessedThis forum is riddled with the mag virus like.
Whoever we appoint needs to shake things up totally, no fkng about, no passengers.

Agreed. We need a new set of leaders bringing a different set of qualities and fully functioning legs.Exactly. I would start with the senior pros. No contract or available for immediate transfer. Jos and Catts etc
Eat a dickYou woke and your first thought was......can I be the biggest Fookin Fanny on the SMB today
This 100% - just through the door and deciding to start where the last regime left off - sign shit.
I couldn't give a name, but what I wanted was a manager who was young, determined, focused, disciplined and with a clear plan. He seems to have that. Many wanted Hurst etc to come in, I'd have been happy enough as he seemed to fit that criteria. Imagine what people might have have thought and said, say 18 months ago if Hurst was linked? Similar to what the negative comments are now about Ross. I'm not saying he'll be brilliant, likewise I'm not saying he'll be a failure. We needed to look down this route and someone determined to make a name for themselves, make the step up and confident in what they done. Position we are in there's always a risk with who came in, due to the huge task ahead. Would an older experienced manager have the desire and willingness to overhaul a club almost? Probably not.All for it. Need youth, new ideas, a no nonsense approach, keenness to play youth and most of all someone who signing on for the long term project that SAFC is.

Definitely, we need a manager we can grow with and/or vica versa that will not be out of his depth and sacked when we are back in the prem or championship, for example a Pearson or Keano. Needs to be a long term appointment, I can see this St Mirren individual sacked when we are in the relegation zone of the championship.
Take off your rose tinted glasses cretins.
