Filling the stadium...

They’re far too expensive for what’s on offer. I still think the chance to see a game for what in effect would be less than a tenner would be our best chance of getting people back. I really want to do a season in the BCB but can’t justify £795 x 2 for anything other than a “Keane type” season. If they were £500 each I’d go regardless and I just feel that families may baulk at forking out a grand to watch shit teams....if we’re murdering shit teams then that’s more acceptable but that will need investment.

Plenty of people from the PC got deals for the BCB. I was offered seats for £600. If you can’t justify £1600 you could have sat in the centre of the west Stand for less than £1k - and in seats adjacent to the BCB for £620. There are plenty of decent seats offering great value for money. Even in a great season the difference of £1k between seats 6 feet apart in the North Stand seems ridiculous to me for what you would be gaining from the BCB.

We sit in the couple of rows directly in front of the BCB for 310. We talked about moving there but no matter what league we were playing in I'd still think it was a bit rich for what you get. In fact, for me the standard of opposition has little to do with what I see as value watching us play. I would see Sunderland v Chelsea at 40 quid very expensive for instance.

You’re probably right in that assertion but we became members of Durham CCC this season and we wanted to replicate the experience there with the member’s lounge and what have you. Got to say it’s cracking value at £250 for the two of us mind.

I still want to see some evidence of ambition before buying in any capacity though. Thanks for the advice though.

You still aren’t listening to what I’m saying so let’s go through it point by point.

Do you agree that a full stadium is better than a half full stadium for atmosphere, getting the club talked about favourably and creating a good environment for the players, new and existing.

If you do, do you then think that if the club can facilitate that without losing income then they should (as a one off gesture) try to do that.

If you don’t agree with the above then fair enough, we disagree.

Still hanging around like a bad smell I see.

Of course a full stadium is better but the tickets are more than reasonably priced as it is and it's unrealistic to expect 48000 fans to turn up every week to watch League One football.

In any case what you'd more likely find if you let everyone in for next to nothing is the extra fans that turn up will be the first ones to whinge and turn on the players if we're not 2-0 up after 10 minutes.

I'd rather there was 20k proper fans who genuinely want to be there and will get behind the lads and not moan and groan at every misplaced pass.

Some of our best atmospheres have been when the SoL has been half full. I still remember Arsenal in the FA Cup a good few years ago. About 21k there and it was bouncing.

20k supporters we've had to basically bribe to come in is not conducive to a passionate and patient support like.

It’s not bribery man

Think of it as compensation for sitting through two of the worst years any of us have seen. If any company let’s you down with a faulty product you have every chance of getting a refund or some other compensatory gesture. You know why they do that...because they want you to keep buying their products.

You and I both know it’s been dreadful recently but those of us who have stopped buying season tickets are enthused by new owners and the possibilities....we just need something to make that decision for us. For me it would be showing ambition but a price cut for one year would also help. Call it fair weather supporting if you like but I’ve done the hard yards for 50 years, many of those home and away and as a season ticket holder. I doubt I’d go over and hand £60 over on a match by match basis to watch third tier football though.

I sometimes get the feeling that some of our fans prefer being down to the hardcore so they can wear there support like a badge of honour. I’ve been there when there was only me and 10,000 others but I loved it when we got the big gates for cup matches. I’ll never be convinced that a bigger crowd isn’t better in every respect....the early days at the SOL under Reidy were very special.

That was because we had a bloody good team back then.

Are they going to refund the price of my ticket? Which is already a very reasonable price. As has been sai, the fact that it took us 364 days to win an game at the SoL doesn’t help a bit

This.

And has happened more than once in the past 15 years, to go nearly a year without a home win is not acceptable at this level of football.....

Saying that, really happy with don and his backers so far....

Hopefully we are building momentum, get off to a good start, winning games with good football. Who knows what we can achieve.

Certainly the new owners are relighting my enthusiasum long may it continue

By offering large discounts and refunds to those who’ve already paid. How many do you think we’d sell at say £200 and if was cost neutral to the new owners would it not be a great way to kickstart the new regime.

Won't happen.....At the moment it's just talking the talk from the chancers, but we start winning games, promises made, the fans will be back in their droves, just like the last time at Roker Pk.

Don't thimk cheaper tickets will fill the ground.

They’ll still have the issue this season of a £30 match day fee for those without a SC.....how many of those do you think we’ll sell to watch third tier football, winning or not.

Not sure if you're on a wind up or not. Weren't you advocating last season that Coleman should not have taken young loanees and played our young uns instead and if we got relegated that was OK. Price worth paying. Now we're in League 1, you're belly aching about ticket prices and low and behold waiting for signs of "ambition" before you commit. Admit it you haven't had a ST for years and have no intension of buying one til we're in the premier League.

Where to start with this drivel. You may have noticed we have new owners currently which means anything said last season has to be taken in the context of who was likely to own the club for the near future. I stand by everything I said about playing our own kids and plenty on here came round to that way of thinking after we started playing them when it was too late. You may have noticed we got relegated anyway.

Secondly I’m not “bellyaching” about ticket prices at all. They’re very reasonable and have been for a long time at this club. What I’m SUGGESTING is a proactive move for one season only by the new owners to try and get their stewardship of the club off to the best possible start in front of a full or almost full stadium...(PC closure left in place).

I’ve made no bones about my SC status...I haven’t had one for a while but did have for 30 years. And why exactly is ambition such a dirty word in your narrow view of the world. I’d put it to you that you’re one of those happy to sit watching shite, wearing your uber-fan status like a badge of honour. If you’re not very discerning about what’s served up to you then fair enough...carry on accepting shite.

He just wants to go the game, he doesn't ask if he's going to be "entertained"........he has asked when he's gonna see them Fookin win again though....

Great post

I find that a bit sad marra. I know you like to score points over me (and vis versa) but it’s a really poorly constructed argument he’s put forward which only vaguely touches on the post I made back in December about playing the kids and also completely misses the point of the current thread. My status as a non-sc holder is hardly a secret so it didn’t need Poirot to work that one out.

By all means have a dig at me but ffs find someone insightful and articulate to back to those ends. Disappointed in you marra.

Edit....ffs he can’t even reply to a post properly
