He's lucky Fabio couldn't keep that level up for another set because there was only one winner if he did.

Not sure if there's a strict rule about when they play but I'm 99% sure Djokovic played on the Monday last year and the Wawrinka - Rosol five setter the year before was a Monday as well.

I think they normally have a French player as the main attraction on the men's side on the Sunday I think.
I did have a look through the years as to when the mens champion started and as you say, Novak and Wawrinka both started on Monday but Nadal started the previous 2 years on the Tuesday.

I've always wanted to see Nadal on clay so I've decided to chance my arm and try and get tickets for a few days play at the French Open. Obviously Nadal will be on one of the two show courts but I I don't know which one or which days.

Does anyone know if it's like Wimbledon where the defending champion opens the days play on Centre court?

Don’t think they have the same tradition as Wimbledon. The French is the riskiest one for the weather, apparently there’s not a lot to do or places to go when the Tennis is off at the Roland Garros venue.

Sharapova rolling back the years this week and that's 3 times that she has won in three set wins which a lot of people were doubting she had in her without her substances. I'm personally pleased she's back. Kontaveit also coming back in form just in time for Grand Slam season, dominant win for her today over Wozniacki.

Didn’t see any play but easy enough for Nadal it seems.

First set was very competitive and was really enjoyable. A break apiece and other opportunities, Novak had 15-40 on either Nadal's 1st or 2nd service games. 2nd set was still decent but think Djok just tired a bit and couldn't sustain the level, but encouraging signs for RG. The scheduling won't have helped him with ending in the evening last night and back on within 17 hours.

A repeat of last year's Rome final for the women, Svitolina vs Halep - probably the 2 favourites for RG.

Epic tie break in the Zverev Cilic match and what a point to win it for the German.

Great fight from Zverev and he did so well winning that first set considering Cilic has set point on serve in that tie break. Looked a bit out on his feet at times in that second set - 13 wins in a row since the start of May, he'll have to rest well after tomorrow. He's now #1 in the race to London.

Can't see him putting up too much of a fight tomorrow, but I wouldn't be too surprised if this is a preview of the final in Paris, despite his poor grand slam showings to date.

Think I'll watch both finals tomorrow.

Probably won't be today but the Zverev - Nadal head to head's gotta turn around at some point, he's pretty much exactly how you'd build a player if you wanted to beat Nadal.

That match point at Indian Wells... brutal.

Halep’s Coach wasn’t too happy.

He stopped working with her for a while last year after Miami last year because he didn't like her attitude, some of their on court coaching interactions do get a bit interesting.

He's great Darren Cahill, best commentator in tennis.

I think you'd have to make Svitolina favourite for Roland Garros now despite never going beyond the quarters at any slam.

She's still just behind Halep in the betting odds but she obviously does well on the slow playing traditional clay surface and should have learned a lot from that disaster in the quarter last year. Although this is the WTA and very few would have predicted Ostapenko this time last year or even the following 2 grand slam winners so will no doubt be as wide open as usual. It'll be interesting to see if Serena does play at all.

Anyone know when the RG qualifying draw is? I'm sure qualifying starts tomorrow so dunno why it's not out.

Can't find anything on that website, it's garbage.

Women's Q draw is tomorrow around this time, but I think their quals start on the Tuesday so I'd imagine the men's will be out within the hour.
