The danger not for Nadal but for Thiem and Zverev going deep in the French Open is meeting the likes of Djokovic, Nishikori and Wawrinka early.

None of those 3 will win it but in are a huge challenge early on.
 

If Thiem wins today it'd be a sixth new Masters winner in the last nine events, there were only two from 2011 until Rome 2017 :lol:

I'll go for Thiem in 3. I'm going to watch the first 15-20 mins of the Charlton match and then decide which to watch after that. I'll definitely record to watch straight after if I do go for football.
 
Great win for Konta earlier and with 3 wins so far, that's her ever best return on clay on the main tour with the French Open still to come. Plays Ostapenko next @chopsfc007

Edmund has his match with Pouille once the Wozniacki match has finished. Woz is currently a set and a break up, so could be over soon.

I seen some of the Benoit paired game, aye I seen got ostapenko to win this tournament
 
Edmund off to a flyer.

The commentator just said a great stat: Zverev is the first player to win a clay court tournament without having his serve broken since records began. Only faced one break point (v Mayer) as well.

Zverev has just taken the first set 7-5 vs his Italian opponent. Hopefully he wraps that up in straight sets as it's almost 10pm in Rome and Muguruza still has to follow on the Centre Court and that could well be nearly 12am if Zverev goes the distance. I suppose if it did go to a third, they might be able to put it on the court where Edmund is currently on. The other live match on a show court between Haase and Shapovalov has literally just gone into a decider 7-6 6-7.

There's a half decent chance that Edmund could be a top 16 seed in RG which would be very handy and a bit of a shock if someone told you after Wimbledon last year.
 
Konta lost in 3 sets to Ostapenko earlier today, but still an encouraging tournament for her.

Strong Rome quarter final line up thus far - Ostapenko, Halep, Svitolina and Kerber all through and Sharapova, Stephens/Garcia and Wozniacki hoping to join them later.

I think it'll just be a heavy fine. I was following the match and it was obviously a terrible call at a crucial time but she's usually so laid back as if she's not really bothered so the reaction was very surprising. Sakkari's face as she was doing it was priceless :lol:

Fognini v Nadal on clay in Fognini's home country, yes please 8-)

If he's as up for it as he normally is against Rafa with a Davis Cup atmosphere behind him then it could be very very fun.
 
I've always wanted to see Nadal on clay so I've decided to chance my arm and try and get tickets for a few days play at the French Open. Obviously Nadal will be on one of the two show courts but I I don't know which one or which days.

Does anyone know if it's like Wimbledon where the defending champion opens the days play on Centre court?

He's lucky Fabio couldn't keep that level up for another set because there was only one winner if he did.

Not sure if there's a strict rule about when they play but I'm 99% sure Djokovic played on the Monday last year and the Wawrinka - Rosol five setter the year before was a Monday as well.

I think they normally have a French player as the main attraction on the men's side on the Sunday I think.
