I think we all want him to leave them, as their reaction will be very funny, but undoubtedly he is a very good manager.

He's a good manager, let's not get carried away with the media hype about miracles.

If he's really 'very good' then what are Houghton, Warner, Dyche, etc?

This has put Ashley in a nightmare situation.

Benitez walks, its clear to everyone no money will be made available for a shopping spree and he is happy ticking along. Also, words greatest journalist, Lee Ryder got the exclusive that take over pended on Rafa being manager, so that will be in doubt
Rafa stays - Ashley has to spend

GRanted we are a mess and I love laughing at our neighbours, but Ashley has a big week coming up

Ashley has happily admitted that, he couldn't care less what people think.

How many European cups have they got between them?

speaking of takeovers, we have been linked with Microsoft founder Paul Allen (richer than Mansour, more than twice as rich as Abramovich) making a move. So who knows if that could be linked

(almost certainly not going to happen but I can dream)

This will be hilarious if it happens. 59000 jilted lovers. The water levels in the Tyne will rise by several inches from the tears rolling down the banks. The bedsheets will be oot and Ashley will be public enemy number one again.

Dear me, not this shite again .... how many European Cups will Benitez win in the future?

I don't speculate. Like Benitez I deal with fachts

As an owner though will he own you the West Ham way?

have been rumours he feels he owes us after agreeing to join then reneging literally at the last minute when Madrid came in

As put on the other thread there plenty of cash floating around too, 43m net profit last season, 30m profit after that in January transfers, plus whatever was made this season
Up the ammers from me just to see the mags lose their minds about a completely standard thing which happens at every club.

Is that the rule of thumb like? Do you base a managers success on European Cups?

You pretendy Sunderland fans stick out like a sore thumb.:lol:

If they appoint managers on how many European Cups they have won then surely the man to replace Rafa is Roberto Di Matteo?

not really he's pretty defensive

I'd prefer Emery personally - better record of achievement and winning things with a smaller club

Steve McClaren won a league cup with Boro mate, if winning lesser trophies with lesser clubs is what you're after. Not sure if his move to QPR has been confirmed yet..

Hughton and Wagner were good, Benitez did better, by every metric

Dyche has had a brilliant season. I think they'll need to spend a bit if they a) want to take Europe seriously, b) want to repeat the top half finish.
