Not this again, people still quibbling on about the Venky's. Their club is likely to be playing in a higher league than us next year. The time to quibble on about them in relation to Short has long past.I think I’d rather him than a foreign consortium that knew little about football (unless they were rich awab men).
I’d hate the likes of the Venkys
You're worrying about a problem we don't yet have.
You don't know of any deals that are in place.
You don't know of any further reductions in income due to relegation.
You don't know who will want to stay and who will want to leave.
Just wait and see how things pan out with a takeover first.
We could do with some new taps.I don't expect everyone to agree with this, but I think we could do a lot worse than having Bob back in the boardroom in some capacity.
This bloke is bad news believe me. He got out of Leeds when they were falling apart and he worked with Ridsdale ffs.
Dodgy character who lives in Harrogate and is banned from all the pubs in Harrogate for some reason apparently. His involvement is not good news.
OK, but it was built in his time - overall it appears he did a fantastic job for Hull while he was there - and with Allam in charge now some would like Pearson back. I'm sure some will find ways to say he'd be bad for Sunderland but he appears to tick a lot of boxes to lead a consortium that may turn us around. He clearly has a passion for football and sport in general.
I think this is a good point. We're in league one, down to the hardcore fans (so we can't immediately sell the "35000 every week" line to a new investor even though I'm sure we'd get back there quick enough if we were winning and there was some positivity around), we've got a mountain of debt, still a crippling wage bill for this league. We aren't suddenly going to get a knight in shining armour with no potential downsides riding in to save us. Any consortium will naturally have questions either about individual members or about previous clubs some have been involved in.
Pearson has no doubt made mistakes elsewhere, but you have to hope that maybe he's learned from them. He certainly has the experience to suggest he might be a useful person to have involved.
As mentioned earlier, it's all about the backers really, if they have some funds (not expecting loads but they need to contribute something otherwise it's just another voice to potentially disagree with others) and some good, relevant experience then it could be really positive. It could all go to shit as well of course but playing the odds you'd think and hope they'd struggle to be worse than the bloke who doesn't give a shit and who has left the club in the hands of a CEO who certainly can't be said to have had any positive impact other than possibly a minor one on a spreadsheet. If I was playing a dice game with you and you'd rolled a 2 of course there's a chance I could do worse, I'd fancy my chances of at least matching you though
Yes pleaseBig Nige in as manager?
Always came across well Marwood. Would like to think he is involved.Brian Marwood is from Seaham. His father used to run the milk delivery business in the Market Place in Houghton.
A few years ago, Brian worked in some senior capacity for Nike UK.
I’m with the times and they might be going to be above us but they’ve caused chaos getting thereNot this again, people still quibbling on about the Venky's. Their club is likely to be playing in a higher league than us next year. The time to quibble on about them in relation to Short has long past.
People still dubious about foreign owners need to buckle up and get ready for the ride. Some people need to get with the times.
Marwood is currently CEO of the wider City group academy system for all of their clubs worldwide. I'd be sceptical of him leaving that to be honest.Always came across well Marwood. Would like to think he is involved.
Is it really worse than what we have now, I don't think so.
2+2=5Where’s this Marwood rumour come from?
He hasa great job at City doesn’t he?
A hull supporting friend of mine has only positive things to say about him to be fair and reckons if he’s got decent financial backing behind him he’d be the ideal person to sort safc out
I am sure he is a top fella. I am sure he has got backing who is minted. But the fact remains is there has been no contact or offer made to Ellis Short. Just like all the rest before Mr Pearson. Time and time again some rag comes up with the name of a consortium and time and time again after a week or so we stop hearing about it. I just think now is the time for all this daft, unfounded load of bullshit to stop being recycled and to ask Ellis to think about how he intends to take the club forward in the next few years.
