Cheating Aussie B******s

Warner will definitely be finished. He is 31 now, so 33 before even been considered for national selection. At that point he will have had to play domestic cricket and justify his selection. I reckon he will sculk off into the hills of Sydney and not be seen in cricket again.

Amazed Warner only got 12 months...Should have been for life.
Smith as captain fair enough
Bancroft would probably have been dropped in 6 months anyhow so he's got away lightly for 9 months

Simon Hughes’s take on Lehmann
After considering it thoroughly, from all angles, dotting the i's and crossing the t's, being as thoughtful as possible, allowing for margins of error, providing for decency, assuming that everyone puts the game first... he can fuck off, the wanker.

Warner loved his time at Durham, was desperate to play championship cricket.
I choose to ignore that dark part of my heritage, like when I was 7 and fancied Captain Kirk.

Are they seriously telling us that no bowler knew about this plan? And how can the manager keep his job? He's either in on it or has no idea what the players are up to. Either way, he should be gone.

He was cajoled into it by Warner then directed to hide the sandpaper and play dumb by 12th man.

Getting the office junior to do the dirty work and take the rap basically.

He's a mug but less culpable then Warner
He's a 25 year old international cricketer

He metaphorically 'pulled the trigger'

He's as guilty as anyone, and more so (IMO)

Always suspected Smith was a bit dense but it's unbelievable what he's done here. Shot himself in the face never mind the foot. Well on his way to being in the list of the best test batsmen and that's gone now over something there was fuck all need to do and fuck all reason to believe it would come off. His frame of mind in participating in this is incomprehensible.

This is isn't being forced into stealing a loaf of bread for your starving family due to societal inequality, it's not that kind of law breaking. Its a wealthy privileged sportsman cheating to win at sport. No sympathy here.

To me it's not so much dense as weak. It sounds as if he didn't want to say 'no' to Warner. That's how I read it anyway.

Yes they've cheated, pretty badly, but nobody killed anyone. 12 months seems long to me, I reckon 6 would have done, although I guess they wanted to cover the next Australian summer. The loss of their IPL deals will hit them the hardest.

So you're saying you'd only have given then 12 months if they'd killed someone☺?
Apart from 5ODI's v England convicts only have a few minor tours in the next 6monthplus they'd have been available for the bigbash.

Maybe I am trying to say yes they have done wrong, but in the grand scheme of the world it is hardly crime of the century. I am still of the belief that it is just like any other kind of cheating (ie. knowingly claiming catches, not walking, etc). Maybe the ban is appropriate as a 6 monther would pretty much only cover their winter. Just think the uproar has been escalated due to those involved not being particularly popular. I suspect if it was AB de Villiers it would be a 3 game ban and that would be it.
